Happy Pi Day!!

Thats right everyone, today is the 14th day of the 3rd month. And since I celebrated the occasion at 1:59 today with other like-minded nerds, it is an important day indeed. Definately cooler than Pi approximation day, (July 22).

for all you non-geeks, well....I have nothing to say to you.

I actually havn't seen it yet, but my friends and I were planning to watch it today in celebration (in our math lecture hall, of course, at night) . However, we've got a physics lab, integration test, and infinity more work to do for tommorow, so we had to delay it.
AUUGHHGHHH, i can't believe it! Its a waste!

So I had to start htis thread to make up for it.

phi is another greek letter usually used to represent the phase shift between two sinusoidal functions, for example, between a damped, and undamped AC current. Its an angle, in radians, expressed as a fraction of a full period, which is 2pi.

um, why can't a perfect circle exist?

Because nothing is perfect?:) Well I guess in theory you could have a perfect circle (depending on your definitions of perfect). I guess it would be a one dimensional shape with its circumfrance being at all points equal distance from the centre making it perfectly round...

yeah, in my high school math class, there was this poster called 40 feet of pi, and it had quite a few digits. One day I was bored after a test so I started to memorize it. I can now remember out to 70 or so. I also went to this website and copied 5 million digits into a word doccument (2001 pages). But that was before I formated it to make it smaller.

I guess geeks are obsessive really. Wheras intellectuals aren't as intense. But yeah, I don't really get the distinction. And I don't get why geek is an insult generally.

I have a shirt that has a giant pi symbol on it made up entirely of over one throusand digits of pi. I love that shirt.
