A SOUTH Korean trader has been granted approval to import chicken from North Korea for the first time, officials said yesterday.
A first shipment of 40 tonnes of poultry meat may arrive as early as this week, the ministry of agriculture and forestry said.
The South Korean trader plans to import 2000 tonnes of North Korean chicken this year.
"We found North Korean chicken farms were free of avian influenza," an agriculture official said.
Do you think that this is possibly the start of reunification in Korea? How do you think that would work? What barriers can you see preventing reunification? I don't think Kim Jong Il would be too keen on the idea, unless it was unification under him. He'd love that, see it as a justification of his policies and actions. Well, what do you think?
