I hope so, but there are supposedly large deposits of oil under those islands, and you know how people get when it comes to oil....

They are close to the Phillipines. But I want a solution like what was done for Svaldbard after WWI: give sovereignty to one nation, but allow anyone to extract minerals, live there, or ship goods. There is just one condition: the sovereign will provide no services, but instead the government of their home nation.

Yes exactly, because of these valuable resources, I don't see this dispute being resolved anytime soon. Some of the nations have small garrisons on the islands, that doesn't help matters.
