How do you sleep?

Burgman-Allen

I usually end up sleeping on my side. Heard it was bad for your back and it gives you wrinkles on your face faster, but I can't help it, I invariably sleep on my side. What about you?

How do you sleep?

Is this a reference to Paul McCartney?

I mean, how are those lecturers supposed to know that they're boring you if you don't give them a sign? :D

If I sleep (which is becoming a rarity) I sleep in very unusual positions and in very odd places. I sort of just fall asleep whenever it gets to hard to deny my body respose any longer, and at that point anything even remotely resembling a bed seems to do just fine :)

If I don't sleep on my side, my fiancee pokes me to roll me over. Likewise, she sleeps on her stomach, and if she isn't at least on her side, I poke her until she rolls over. If either of us sleeps on our back, we snore like crazy. Not that she will admit to it...but she does.

There are problems with any sleeping position. Those who sleep on their backs tend to snore, which often stops their breathing and causes heart problems. Those who sleep on their sides have back problems and often waking up sore in weird places. Those who sleep on their stomachs get carpal tunnel faster.

My great grandmother used to do that.

I tend to crawl into bed, cover myself in blankets and I usually start out on my back and sometimes roll onto my side or stomach. Or in a ball, whichever.

What about those foam beds and pillow things? Isn't that supposed to be what they use in space shuttles? I thought those are supposed to help you sleep better and are better for your bones and joints. I don't know, but that's how they're advertised

I'm suprised no one's said they sleep naked, I expected that would be one of the first posts.

I sleep on my left side - and I guess I never move because I wake up in the same position.

Someone commented that sleeping on the left side harms your heart - I heard that, too. Also, sleeping on your right side harms your lungs. Wonder what sleeping on your stomach does?

I sleep in my sarcophagus. Oh, wait that's my charactor.

I sleep on my side. Have to, have sleep apnea. Sleeping on my side keeps my airways open so I don't stop breathing. It also limits my snoring. This was DR. suggested. So, I don't see how sleeping on your side affects you or your organs. Wives tails I am sure...

Maybe so but, I get carpal tunnel from sleeping on my left side because I have that nasty habit of putting my hand under my head/side of my face while sleeping. It's a killer to wake up with that numb, cold, tingly and painful feeling but - the hand automatically goes right back under my head.

Yeah, I read in a yoga magazine that sleeping/laying on your left side actually helps circulation in pregnant women (for the baby too). I would think that applies to people who aren't pregnant as well.

I've been told I do this...by some very worried people. They think something's wrong. But I only seem to do that in lectures...
In bed I generally start off on my left side...though if I can't sleep like that I sleep on my back, and snore like a bastard. I generally end up on my front facing left.

My sister sometimes sleeps with her eyes open. She says she only does that when she's really tired and falls asleep quickly.

But I always wake up facing the ceiling on my back.

I used to sleep in the strangest positions, and I always had back pain. I've just started to sleep flat on my back, and I feel great. Along with that, it's keeping my spine straight.

I'll be sleeping on my back from now on.

On my back flat.. or on my back with a pillow underneath one side so I'm kinda tilted or on my side hugging a pillow and got a pillow between my legs. I don't sleep on my stomach unless I'm tryin to force myself to go to sleep.

--------------------------------
The yearner (13%): People who sleep on their side with both arms out in front are said to have an open nature, but can be suspicious, cynical. They are slow to make up their minds, but once they have taken a decision, they are unlikely ever to change it.

Starfish (5%): Lying on your back with both arms up around the pillow. These sleepers make good friends because they are always ready to listen to others, and offer help when needed. They generally don't like to be the centre of attention.

Everything I need to know I learned from music.

Phish:"When you're here, I sleep length-wise. When you're gone, I sleep diagonally. . ."

John Lennon:"How do you sleep?"

Warren Zevon:"I'll sleep when I'm dead."

Meatloaf:"Can I sleep on it?"

LOl on my side, but as to which side, well that depends on which side I've had surgery most recently. And my cats curl up about me acting like warm furry bolsters to keep me from disappearing ( or so it seems )

I have to fall asleep on my left side. But, I do roll and shift a lot in my sleep, and I do talk in my sleep and apparantly it's usually about violent things. I wake up on either side or my back. A lot of times when I wake up on my back my right arm is above my head resting on my reading pillow, and being completely numb. A few hits on my wall gets it better though. When I would come home drunk I'd just find myself to my room and collapse on my stomach.

I've gotta say... It went over quite nicely. It was as relieving as telling off a bossy relative.
