Why do they call a Roster the "C" word? Why such a suggestive name?

If memory serves me correctly I believe the term for the rooster predates the term for the male reproductive organ.

Because the sound they make used to be called "cocking." It'd be like if in 10 years we called dogs "barks."

Yea, but the time has changed, and the name is still there!

I am bored if you can't tell, so that why we have this post. That and Family Guy helps.

You mean cock? It was called that long before we called the penis "cock". Using that word to describe the penis is slang.

If I made "German Kingdoms" slang for "lynching black people," would you or I have the obligation to change the term when confusion arose?

Sure why not.

They didn't name rosters after a suggestive name, the suggestive name is named after the roster.

Besides, does it really matter? If you don't enjoy that term, just say 'roster.'

I think you'll find that the use of cock is a shortened term for a male chicken, the cockeral.
The use of rooster is a term for any bird that, well roosts, but the americans used it to describe a male chicken and the name stuck, at least in America.

Cocks and Hens are the proper terms to differeniate the sexes of all birds.

Cock: From Middle English cok, from Old English cocc, probably from Late Latin coccus, from coco, a cackling, of imitative origin.

BTW we usually say the 'C' word to mean something else entirely, which is much more vulgar and offensive than 'Cock'.
And I can't say I've ever called a Rooster that. Though I was tempted once when I was woken up at 4am by one.

The only reason I even read this thread is because I'm incredibly, incredibly bored. I took a break from NS and read some porn, but I'm still bored. I slept in today, so currently sleep is not an option.
