The CHURCH!

Hey long time no talk...

Anyway, I thought I would enlist the intelligent and well-informed help from all NationStates posters to help me find an appropriate church/denomination for myself.

My current church (McLean Bible) isn't really fitting in with what I think the Bible teaches. I'm looking for a Christian church that will accept if not endorse the following doctrinal beliefs of mine:

1) Liberation theology
2) That the Catholic bible (that is, the bible with deuterocanonicals) is the true bible
3) Afro-centrism
4) Rejection of "sola scriptura" (which is the idea that the bible is the only source of Christian truth and should ALWAYS be interpreted literally)
5) Rejects the papacy, or at least the belief that any man is infallible in faith

Yeah, it's a lot to ask, but if you can think of any that meet some of them, I'd be really happy.

Thanks in advance!

Here's a site that'll tell you according to the answers you choose.

It's twenty questions, takes about 10 minutes.

Copticism is a birthed religion, meaning that there can be no converts. You are born into it, or SOL.

Hm. Well, I suppose you could always try Unitarian Universalism. It worked really well for me, but well, it's not Christian... Although you ARE welcome to believe that Jesus is the son of God if that's your wish. There isn't a great deal of "You must believe this!" kinda stuff in our church. It's very open to opposing views and beliefs. Here, I'll post the URL to the site that helped me when I first started doing research...

I found this part of the site, particularily useful!

Methodist? Personally I don't see why one needs a church, but good luck.

I would suggest Judaism or Islam. You may wish to try Buddhism. Consult your local religious leaders, but don't mention conversion(especially to a Christian). Just say you are curious about the religion. They should be happy to help.

1) Liberation theology -- To the best of my knowledge, you have to find a Catholic country with a serious communist insurrection to find this in a church.
2) That the Catholic bible (that is, the bible with deuterocanonicals) is the true bible -- I think you need to find a Lutheran, Catholic, or Othodox church for that.
3) Afro-centrism -- Lots of churches for that, but most are Baptist or Pentacostal.
4) Rejection of "sola scriptura" (which is the idea that the bible is the only source of Christian truth and should ALWAYS be interpreted literally) -- Catholic and Othodox only
5) Rejects the papacy, or at least the belief that any man is infallible in faith -- Maybe Orthodox, but they do think that the Church Council is infallible.

Hope this helps.

Just make up your own religon. You can be the high shaman, pope, even messiah, and people will probably follow you. Besides, if it dosen't work, you can always commit mass suicide (:mp5: ), then you'll be famous(maybe)!

I can't stand classifying Christian ideologies because it always loses sight of the philosophy.

My advice to you would be to temporarily put aside your personal desires and find a calvinist church that teaches salvation through grace.

You should also read your bible and pray.
