B.J. Vorster. I'd want to know how someone could be such a sick f*** and still consider himself a human being.

My cat's. So I could find out what it is that makes her stare at the wall for hours on end. Sounds stupid but I really wonder what she looks at.

1. My ex-boyfriend's...what the heck he's thinking about me/why he dumped me

2. A baby's mind...I think that would be really interesting to view the world from a completely unbiased viewpoint.

Who would it be? What would you want to know? :)

I'd want to get inside GW Bush's mind, so I can find out what his next plan it and thwart it. That, or travel back in time, and get in Einstein's mind. Maybe then i'd be good at math. Here's to hoping :)

A certain individual I know, so I could finally know exactly what her feelings are. She acts like she likes me, she acts different around me than anybody else, she gets dissapointed when I can't do something with her, she does everything that would suggest she likes me, but she claims she doesn't like me in that way whenever I confront her about it.

My ex girlfriends mind just becasue I want to find out what she saw in me.

I would think that God has better security than to just let you non-corporeally waltz into His mind. Not to mention that His mind is so vast, you would probably get lost inside it. :p

Okay, to be serious, if I had such power, I would be tempted to subtlely enter the minds of various women to learn how they feel about me. I would also be tempted to explore their personalities from the inside; I'm not going to take a romantic interest in a woman whose personality rubs me the wrong way and I'm not going to alter anyone's personality to suit my tastes.

Being a science-fiction/fantasy fan, though, I have thought a little about the implications of various strange things (such as time travel, mind reading, et cetera), and there are a couple of problems with this application of mind reading:

1) Entering someones mind is entering their personal space. For example, there are laws against breaking into someones house (not counting pre-existing emergencies), even if all you want to do is read someones diary. Just taking the diary is theft, and there're laws against that, too. If someone invites me in, then that's a different matter. However, if I gain enough of a womans trust for her to invite me into her mind, first, then I've already formed a strong relationship with her without the use of mindreading.

2) A degree of mystery and/or challenge tends to be appealing. Something is almost always more appealing, or getting something is almost always more satisfying, if one has to wait and/or work to get it. Delayed gratification is usually more satisfying than instant gratification as it builds up that mystery, that anticipation. Mindreading would spoil that anticipation and thus might prove to be more of a curse than a blessing.

Consider a couple that goes out on a moonlight walk, share a candlelight dinner, and then spend the night in each others arms: They want each other, but they don't just "jump in the sack". Instead, they build each other up to it in a way that's almost artistic. Some might choose to argue that it IS artistic with no "almost" about it. Consider a movie or a book: You don't skip straight to the end, you read or watch the whole thing through. Every good story builds anticipation over time and has a climax at which that anticipation is released. Some of the dirtier minds... :p ...might snicker at the sexual innuendo behind the word "climax", but the exact same principle applies.

If offered the ability to read minds, I would probably accept (on the condition that I turn off that ability at will; there are other problems associated with mindreading that I won't discuss here). I'm just not sure if I would actually use it.
