It is pretty bad. The only thing I watch now is the History Channel, Comedy Central, and Conan O'Brian.

There are ratings on most if not all TV shows. If you don't want to watch, a show with anything above a "G" rating, you don't have to.

Abandone TV and buy DVDs of all the classic series. Then run your own little tv station on your pc.

But how do you feel about shows like Boston Legal. Its got some weird points, but they're good weird, a funny weirdness that everyone can enjoy... well except for smaller children who might ask questions about things, but thats why its on from 10 to 11...

Its a shame American TV is rubbish, cause its all replayed on British TV! I hate most American shows- they are just so sickening and sentimental (examples include: extreme makeover, 8 rules for dating my teenage daughter, thats so raven, friends etc). Plus people in the sitcoms actually pause for laughter!

(1) The ratings are there FOR A REASON! It is those children's parents' responsibility to decide which shows are appropriate, and those ratings are meant to help. It is their responsibility to enforce their rules. If the child is watching something inappropriate, it is the parents' fault.
(2) If a child is watching something inappropriate, it is a parent's obligation to explain it to the child in whichever way they feel is best for the child.
(3) I, personally, believe that children SHOULD be educated on many social issues at a young age.

all i watch is news, discovery, tlc, and vh1

I think there is something incredibly screwed up with the baby boomers. I mean wtf. My parents are baby boomers, and all of the messed up kids' parents are baby boomers. It's like that whole generation doesn't care about their kids, and when they do care, they show it through like.. anger or something.. so we have to hide from them

I agree though, TV is utter crap. And TV is NOT REALITY. On the news all you hear about is people being raped and killed. It is not nearly like that in the real world. Kids see movies with sex in it, which is fine.. sex is natural and all, but when they see every single show with sex, and then sexual affairs.. cheating.. Dad's raping their kids.. The big bad black man raping the white girls.. then turn to their music and is full of abuse and sex, HELL YEAH IT CAN GIVE YOU A SCREWED UP VISION OF THE WORLD

On a side note, I prefer Discovery Channel (though that is going downhill), History Channel, National Geographic, Comedy Central, Animal Planet, and Cartoon Network (Adult Swim.. come on guys, I am 17).

I agree and I'm not questioning any of those things, except perhaps your comments that TV is not reality.

A lot of times, TV does broadcast reality, does broadcast truth, although a wildly biased and somewhat warped view of it. Some things are definitly not reality (like Charmed or Buffy the Vampire Slayer) but some things are, in some small, sick, twisted way.

I watch Inuyahsa on TV, and that's about all. The rest is all DVDs.

My tv is usually set to Discovery Channel, Food Channel, Travel Channel, Animal Planet or History Channel. I do watch my regular rerun sitcoms during the week , but I couldn't even tell you what time or what day the new shows come on on the main broadcasting channels (ABC-CBS-NBC-FOX) during primetime now. Flipped past MTV the other day and saw 4 kids in a bed making out. All looked to be under 18. I dunno what the hell was going on there, I was shocked that it was on there though. But MTV is crap anyway.

American TV is nothing compared to Legend of the Overfiend (so terrifying even I haven't seen it). It has tentacle rape and such.
