A Great Quote to Live By

"Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end."

-Unknown

I'd like to shake the hands of the man/woman who came up with this. Unfortunately...we don't know who he/she is.

This has reminded me that while the here-and-now is important, little problems that happen everyday don't really matter in the long run. I think this philosophy can save people alot of grief if you ask me.

That is a pretty sucky quote. There are much better ones to live by.

I personally think its a great quote to live by. Very optimistic, which less and less people are now-a-days...

Heres one of my favorite quotes, " I am free of all prejudices, I hate everyone equally."
That quote you posted was way to opitmistic for my taste.

Like "Religion is the opium of the masses."
I, personally, am quite fond of striding confidantly into a room and proclaiming "Heroin is the opiate of the masses." And then leaving while everybody is still confused.

Treat people as means to themselves, not means to an end
I rather like that one.

Here's one..."Always assume ignorance. You won't be disappointed if you're proven right, and if you're proven wrong, you'll be pleasantly surprised."

y'all can like or y'all can hate it. I really don't care.

This isn't a quote like everybody else is posting, it's a story, but I rather like it:

Two (celibate) monks are walking and come upon a woman by a stream. The stream is running too strong for her to cross. One monk picks up the girl and crosses the stream, places her down on the other side and keeps going on his way.

Much later the two monks arrive at the monastery and the one who did not pick up the woman says, "How could you violate our precepts! We are not even allowed to talk with women, much less touch them!"

The other monk replied, "I left the girl at the stream, are you still carrying her?"

To me, it symbolizes where written duty ends and duty to others begins.

Opiate. Religion is the opiate of the masses.
"Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people." :p

But what if the end is death? That just means that everything sucked until you died.

I like that one! Makes good sense!

And Longton, you may be over analyzing the quote a wee bit.

One of my favorite quotes is:

Life may not be exactly pleasant, but it is at least not dull. Heave yourself into Hell today, and you may miss, tomorrow or next day, another Scopes trial, or another War to End War, or perchance a rich and buxom widow with all her first husband's clothes. I advocate hanging on as long as possible.
