So he walked past the house of his old, really pretty girlfriend. I know you won't feel like hearing this right now, and it probably won't help because you'll probably think I'm talking BS when you're feeling down, but you're beautiful, and on top of that, you're a really nice person (from what I've seen). And she'll be really threatened by you - hell, I would be.

Yup...I lost both of my parents by the time I was 24, but I love to remember all the good memories of them. It keeps them with me...my daughter too. Once I gave up meat for Lent, so Mary made me a veggie lasagna. Instead of meatballs, she put in brussell sprouts. Mary was so unique!! Isn't it a good thing that she has found someone she cares about? Your dad wouldn't want her to be alone and sad, would he? Maybe some time in the next year you can talk to her about how you feel, and ask if you 2 can't make plans to spend that day together. She probably isn't aware of how much you are grieving.

Did yo ever consider that she doesn't talk to you about your Dad because she thinks it may upset you? Almost every time our family gets together, someone brings up Mary and how much we miss her being there with us. Then someone else will bring up something funny or kind or just so typically Mary, and we're laughing and talking about all the good times she was in the middle of. It helps more than anything else to deal with the loss of a loved one.

its not good to do that, keeping your pain inside can lead to much worse things than feeling a little embarassed infront of someone. believe me, i've been there, and since i finally talked about it and let it all out i've been getting better and better :)

Tink...PM is 100% right on this. Crying is an honest reaction we ALL have to strong emotions. There is nothing wrong with crying, and sharing a good cry with someone is very comforting. Shared pain is lessened. My ex and I talk once a week to make sure we're each doing OK, and we almost always have a few shared tears over our girl. No matter what else has gone on between us, that is one bond that we will always have and cherish.

some people really do suck
some people really do suck
Yeah...but maybe for reasons that we don't understand. They hurt themselves more than anyone else. Best to match them with kindness...you'll either win them over or run them off.

The Smiles To Be Found
Sometimes you feel
Like just fading away,
Slowly flickering out
Day by day.
And sometimes you feel
Like just ending the pain,
Giving up
Instead of struggling in vain.
But there is always a reason
To carry on shining bright,
To solve all your problems
And find the strength to fight.
And there is always someone
Who will turn your world around,
Who will look inside you
And see the smiles to be found.
Dont give up
When things go wrong as they sometimes will
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill
When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile but you have to sigh
When care is pressing you down a bit
Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns
As every one of us sometimes learns
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out.
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out
The silver tint of the cloud of doubt.
And you never can tell how close you are
It may be near when it seems so far.
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit
It’s when things seem worst you must not quit.
"One day the sun will shine on you, turn all your tears to laughter. One day your dreams may all come true, one day the sun will shine on you."
"Hold on, if you feel like letting go. Hold on, it gets better than you know."
"Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow"
"When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us"
"Light shines even in the darkest of places"
~~~~~~
I know you're finding things hard right now but you can get through this.
It probably means nothing but I'm sorry about your dad. There's nothing I can say to take away the pain but I promise the hurt you're going through will ease and you will be able to keep him in your heart while moving on. He wouldn't want you to be unhappy and while you can't help it you should make the most of your life.
I know that you feel like you need to be strong and stay happy but trust me, things will never get better unless you can open up and talk about things. No-one expects you to be able to deal perfectly with this. You need to share things with your mum. I can promise that it will make both of you feel better to help each other rather than see each other suffering in silence. Let it bring you closer together.
Try and think about the positives. Remember that you had a dad who loved you. That you have a mum who loves you. That you have friends who love you. I know everything good seems to become meaningless but you have to try your best to see that there are things to smile about from small things like the taste of chocolate to big things like your friends.
Take some time to be sad, to reminisce, to remember. Take a bath, wallow a bit and cry if you want to. Then once you've let it out, get on with your life, keep busy and keep smiling.
Take care :)
