56K warning: it's a pretty big movie file. i'd recommend using one of the stream options(for anybody, not just 56K users), as the download takes forever.

What Jimmy didn't know was that Ralph was sick. A sickness that was not visible like smallpox, but no less dangerous and contagious. A sickness of the mind.

Ralph was a homosexual, a person who demands an intimate relationship with members of the same sex.
One never knows when a homosexual is about. He may appear normal, and it may be too late when you discover he is mentally ill.

It's a wonder what society was like back then. I wonder how many children were driven to depression and possibly suicide by this video and others like it?

I believe people's behaviors and environment effect them a lot more than people understand even still. Even you seem to think homosexuality is some genetic fact... not too different from a psychologist thinking it a mental disorder... either way you treat it as some hard-set condition when it is in fact, merely a preference. The propganda has changed, and it's gotten far more sophisticated, and folks aren't aware of it, but it's still chugging along even today.

Ah, the Prelinger archives. A personal favorite.

I've seen this one before, so I stopped it (you should link to the launch page so people can chose thier stream).

It's pretty scary. You should also check ouy Perversions for Profit, similar sentiment.

No, I found it funny too, on top of it being scary.

By all accounts, homosexuality was linked to communism in the 1950s. This was probably a misconception given the USSR's treatment of homosexuals - and, indeed, its attitude towards sex in general.

Notwithstanding, this probably explains why said 'videos' are what they are.

Not really helping your topic, but here are some of my favorites from the Prelinger Archives-

We don't fare as well as we think...

or Your Name Here (http://www.archive.org/movies/details-db.php?collection=prelinger&collectionid=01681&from=pickList)-If you've watched corporate films before this is hillarious.

And of course Perversions for profit and the ever popular Reefer Madness...(I got tired of doing the links...)

That one is interesting.
Some quotes:
A community is low on the respect scale if common courtesy is withheld from large groups of people on account of their political attitudes, if people are rude to others because they think their wealth and position gives them that right, or because they don't like a man's race, or his religion.
Today, democracy can ebb away in communities whose citizens allow power to become concentrated in the hands of bosses.
The test of despotic power is that it can disregard the will of the people. It rules without the consent of the governed.

well, if it weren't about homosexuals, then most of it is good advice I guess.

I love watching videos from the 50s. So much sensationalism...made me laugh out loud!

Shows me how backwards this country was just 50 years ago.

Macarthyism...mental illnesses..."white picket fences". Hilarious!
