Official Debate Teams. Interested? Check it out!

With the recent departure of a few of our veteran Generalites, I can't help but worry about the decline in the quality of debate that has taken grip on the General Forum, so I'm all for sparking debate back into life, and improving the quality of our debates overall. That's why I'm going to be putting together Official NS Debate Teams. We can keep it simple, make teams of four people, include (closed) in the title, and let everyone know before-hand that the topic is only for specific people, and we can have a civilized debate. Perhaps we could incorporate prizes into the debates, as well as competitions? It's all up to you! Let me know if you're interested. :)
If you are in fact interested, post your views here: http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=404614
so that I can form teams.

I am so there. If possible.
Despite not having posted very much, I have a lot of interest in actual, civilized debate online (especially since I've seen AOL message boards *shudder*), and would be more than happy to participate. (The fact that I'm an actual debater outside of nationstates may help).

Aww, come on. Join us! Give in to peer pressure. :p
But seriously, its going to be a lot of fun. Rumor has it that there are going to be a lot of shiny prizes. ;)
In terms of the issues forum, I'd be very willing to debate most, if not all issues. If someone wants to do futher development on teams or on dividing onto particular issues, tg me as I'll be unavailabe for the next 8.5 hours or so. After that I'll check the threat again.
Thanks!

I'd be willing to do it. I'm not as well versed in some areas as others-international affairs, military affairs, Eastern European/Russian events are my things, but basically anything dealing with current events or history I'm good on.

Eh, sure, I'm interested in this... but I'm just up, and so really... really can't possibly give a full list on what I think about the world in general at the moment (in the other thread). It'd be full of holes and bitterness. I usually try to turn everything into a debate anyway, so I'm certainly in practise for it.

Although I like the idea of promoting good debate, I do not like the idea of having to set aside a specific time to debate, and I hate the idea of closing debates off to the general public. So, do not count me in, but I encourage you to come up with other solutions that dont close off debate to the public. Perhaps a set of guidelines is all that is needed (1. ignore trolls, 2. ignore posts with obvious logical fallacy, etc.) to keep debates from getting stupid.

Teams will be split into each specific category. For example, if I were going to be involved in the debate, I would be on a team with three others against the War in Iraq, and then I would be on another team with three others who are for same-sex marriages. You'll be on multiple teams for each specific category, but we'll take it slow.

I'm gonna be pretty lenient when it comes to different time zones. Before the debate begins, I'll have everyone participating their time zone, as well as how often they check NS.

I'm going to post the teams fairly soon, not going to give an approximate time because I've been completely overwhelmed with things in RL lately. I will give everyone the choice is agreeing with the teams I've picked, or they can withdraw and leave an opening for someone else.
