It's DeLovely

I just saw my brother in a school production of "Anything Goes", with music written by the great Cole Porter. I was never so proud of him in my life.
It might be construed as spam, but hey, I had to get that outta my system. It was the greatest play I ever saw, and he was in it.

Hurray for him!:)
Thank you. I honestly think that he may make a living as an actor in New York. It's a tough life, but if you like it, it can be rewarding.

Sir Evelyn Oakley. He was perfect for the role.

Nice. Though I realized after I asked that I didn't know the show that well. Ah well.

I'm a playwright and as such know a lot of actors. I can't stand acting myself but they sure bring something to it that is unique. If they didn't I guess I would be a novelist...Good luck to him.

So we have a playwright here. Do a lot of your plays make it to the production stage?

That is WONDERFUL!!! I love Cole Porter.
I don't think this post is SPAM - you're talking about The Arts and that is a great subject.

I don't see how telling everyone how proud you are of a family member could be considered spam. I say, congratulations to your brother, and congratulations to you for being so unabashedly proud of your brother.

This topic is not spam.

Any further discussion of whether or not this topic is spam is spam, because anything that is useless, takes up space, and detracts from the subject of discussion is spam, and any discussion of whether something or not is spam after a Moderator has ruled on the matter and definitvely said whether or not the topic is spam is therefore spam since player speculation is useless after a Moderator ruling and should not clutter up a topic that isn't spam. Anyone who disagrees with a Moderator ruling that a topic is or is not spam should post in "Moderation" to protest the decision rather than spam the original topic (if it was declared "not spam") or talk about it in the original topics' original forum (if it was declared "spam").

If I have finished thoroughly confusing everyone, then you may carry on. :D

Ah...I'll have to put my braggy pants on-
Quite a few, actually. I've been lucky enough to have everything I've written hit the stage at least once, some more than that. I've gotten two Kennedy Center nominations for the region 8 ACTF, a playwrighting residency and a scholarship for dramturgy for my work with other new playwrights. None you would have heard of, unfortunately.

I have a new one going up in a couple of months and one thats being turned into a short film. I'm not involved so much with the last bit, I sold the script and so I don't have anymore control over it. Last I heard they where changing the name, which I think is silly because the title is part of the central metaphor. But oh well.

Ugh. I actually kinda hate doing that because I have to do it to get more opportunities. I went into the arts to avoid having to sell crap not realizing that I'd have to end up selling myself...

I think you scared them off Cog. I can see a bunch of people, wandering around in little circles, trying to figure it all out. Good job!!

If I had to sell Marey Carey CDs, even cleaning septic tanks would seem better.

I worked at a record store for 7 years and every time I had to answer a question like "Where's N*SYNC" or "I don't know if you're old enough to have heard of this group, The Beatles...?" a little piece of me would die.

The last one would drive me nuts. And happened a lot more than once.

There where upsides (since I was a buyer I now have a CD collection full of promos I never could have bought myself thats @ 2500)...

But that doesn't really celebrate your brothers achievement. Is the show still running?

I didn't mean playing right now, does it have more shows in its run? Or is it going to travel? Or come back, if you knew what I meant and where saying that the show is going to come back in a few weeks...
