I'm really not a fan of the Anime on Adult Swim, except for Cowboy Bebop and Trigun.

My friend made another friend and I watch it one time. It was crazy wierd...fighting big scary demon things, and then randomly cutting to some dude eating rice...I was honestly quite disturbed.

Shit anime. I don't know why people like this anime. It goes nowhere.

There's alot better one's out there.

I thought this at first as well. Actually I met an old girlfriend that way, we talked through all the Inuyasha showings at our anime club because we thought it was boring.

Around last year I gave it another shot (no girlfriend to talk to this time ;) ). The English dub is actually pretty good; and while the show never rises above the "monster of the week" flavor, the formula is well used and there is a couple of overarching plots to keep you moving.

Its true that its VERY slow moving, has a tendancy to crawl where others dash. But for a long running series it gives you time to grow at home with the characters and actually watch a gradual change in their attitudes and chemistry. For this reason I find Inuyasha much better than many of the other "moster of the week" anime's; it has actual long term character development.

Its certainly not a legend for any induvidual scene, nor is the writing snappy enough to make it quotable, but it remains a solid study in long-term character development. Its worth watching, but only if you watch it in sequence/more than occasionally.

I just don't like the show. I actually still consider it jeuvinile compared to Cowboy Bebop, Evangelion, Ghost in a Shell, Blue Gender, Read or Die, among others.

Inuyasha was the first anime that I started watching. It was quite easy to understand, and it was quite addicting, but in time, I moved on to other, more in-depth animes. I guess you could say that Inuyasha could be a good beginners anime for those who aren't familiar with it.

And there are worse aniems too, i think Trigun is one of the lamest animes. The mix of too damn serious with too damn immature one scene to the next comes off with a "I rather strangle myself than watch this" effect. At least Full Metal Alchemist combines the seriousness and comic relief well as compared to Trigun where they just take em and throw it onto the screen in random succession

Inuyasha is the only anime I will watch, all the others I find goofy.

You mentioned some of the absolute cream of the crop; series that define anime as a genre while pulling it in new directions...and compare it to Inuyasha? ;)

Inuyasha is the plodding workhorse to Cowboy Bebop's prancing stallion. Its a consistently good, fairly cheap to produce money maker. Cowboy Bebop and the others were high budget, top of the line shows.

I would compare Inuyasha to Detective Conan (I think its known as Case Closed in the US...), its HUGELY popular in Japan, but its production value is quite low. It does a lot with a little.

Where do you guys watch anime? I don't get swim channel and stuff, so I mostly download them from the internet via BitTorrent. I can give links if you want..

some like www.animesuki.com

You guys should watch....

Naruto - (long on going series, it's episode 125 in Japan currently) Starts out very immaturish, but 20's throughout the series, the plot gets very enthrilling, serious and deep, plus the world gets very rich. Can get draggy, but if you can see past that, the show is absolute top notch.

Berserk - (short, 22 episodes i think) A story about Gatts, The greatest swordsman. And his journey with Griffith, the man destined to be the King of the World. (very dark and depressing, skip the first 2 episodes :D)

Some others too. But my brain kinda foggy atm.
