Keruvalia and I were having a discussion and it inspired a question I've had for quite some time. Do you think the male or femal species is the most beautiful? Yes, we are talking about humans here.

It really depends. I say both are equal in their own ways... Except guys from Brooklyn. Eugh.

Female. Mainly because I don't have 'urges' towards males.

The female of the species homosapiens sapiens is the pinnacle of creation! Grace, beauty, intellect, personality ... the female has them all. Women are more enduring than men, they often have less problems with ego, they are usually very nuturing and compassionate, and they have an unlimited supply of orgasms. What more could a man want! :D

It's funny that usually women are thought to be the more beatiful gender.
If you start thinking it more deeply, you'll find out there's a couple of simple reasons for that:
1. Women spend a LOT more time for makeup. Think about it. Imagine a party night. The woman spends the, say, 2 hours (at least) before the party for all the makeup and stuff and the guy gets ready in less than half an hour (depends on the dressing-code and so on).
Imagine if the parts were upside down. The guy spends hours for makeup and stuff and the woman just takes a shower before the party. It wouldn't be too tough to guess which one of them looks better.
2. The lifestyle. Women always look after their weight and health while the guys eat almost anything that's good, no matter the hazards.
You'll also have to count in all the hobbies. Guys usually get bruised in all sorts of things while women don't get hurt so easily. It's mostly because of the hobbies.
I could go on more but I'm too bored to make up more.

Uh-oh. I'm going to have to debate this.

1. I spend absolutely NO time on makeup ever. I think it's stupid and a waste of time.
2. I do tend to eat fairly healthy and I do work out on a regular basis, but ONLY for the health benefits. I don't care about my weight in the slightest.

I think Quentulus Quazgar made a good point. I think it goes even beyond that. Women, generally, have softer features than men. I also am one of those people who believe that certain proportions can a person's face and features more beautiful.

I would say that Women are far and away the more beautiful of the species, men rarely have the grace, poise and beauty that girls hold (even those that society wouldn't normally term beautiful).

Beautiful Oksana, we are all one species.

Beauty is subjective, so to a large extend it therefore comes down to culture and upbringing.
In some cultures (including the west 100 years age) females is supposed to be a bit choppy, in other cultures men have to be tall and skinny. So basically it tells a great deal about our culture, when the great majority of women think that woman are the most beautiful.

Anyway if we are to compare men and females, I suppose the best way to go around it is to look at a fully developed and perfect version of each gender. This means taking a male looking like Zeus, and compare him to an extremely beautiful woman. In my view the female would be the most “beautiful”, but a male looking like Zeus would be way more majestic and impressive.

I feel the same way about the subject. But, there's a hell of a lot of ugly guys "walking around". Especially in Houston. That's why I voted for Women, because usually, they do look better.

I'm a female. As far as "beautiful" goes.. I relate thet term to women. If a man is very pleasant on the eyes I say he is good looking or handsome. But which is more attractive to me? Well I'm heterosexual .. so men are more attractive to me. I do recognize womens beauty tho, and I see more attractive to the eye women than men. But overall beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

You don't have to have 'urges' to acknowledge that members of the same sex are beautiful. I'm a male, but there are some very beautiful members of the male sex. I also happen to be bisexual, but that really has no part of it, like they said, its not always finding them sexually attractive.

I voted for women, even though I'm a straight girl. Its not a matter of finding females sexually attractive, obviously that's not the case. Just from an objective outlook, easthetically, a woman's body is more beautiful. Just look at it as if you're looking at a work of art.

Like I said in previous posts, the word "beauty" in the question could be beauty in any form and it could be whatever an individual finds beautiful. For me, this question would mean visual beauty. To me, women are sort of like a theme (universal message). The message may be in different languages or relate to each individual person in a different way, but all humans can understand it. This is sort of like beauty. Everyone knows beauty when they see it. They may not know what makes it beautiful, but they know they see it. With that said, I find something more radiant, beautiful, and infatuating about they way women look and behave in general.

However, I am not a lesbian. I know this to be true because of past experiences. I am not sexually attracted to woman. That level is dominated by men. :)

I'm a heterosexual guy and I voted for men as the most beautiful. I'm not attracted to men so I obviously see women as being more attractive. And on the whole I think the average woman is a lot more beautiful than the average guy, but I think the Ancient Greeks had the right idea with their concept of the gymnasiac culture and the almost veneration of the beauty of the perfect male form. You just have to look at statues in the classical mould e.g. Michaelangelo's David and I think that's a level of perfection a female form can't attain. Just my, probably unorthodox, opinion.

I'm surprised that you find this disturbing. It's only a matter of esthetics, and a very unspecific and hand-wavy one at that. There are some males that I would call very beautiful, but I don't see why I can't consider women, on the whole, to be more so, in a non-sexual way. I thought I would be among the minority of women though, but its seems I'm not.

I don't think it has to do with media bias, or a "female supremacist culture" whatever that is; of course, perception of beauty is a cultural thing, but i think the beuty of the human body is as universal a sense as we have.

No, that doesn't make it biased. The difference between handsome and beautiful is my own opinion. It is a simple question. If you find one gender more beutiful over another, vote for that option. If you don't really have a preference, then choose according to your sexuality. maybe that's the wrong word. Its not objective, because its just my opinion, but I used that word to signal that I wasn't reffering to attraction as the criteria, in which case, I'd obviously vote for men.

I couldn't be bothered to read this entire thread, but I think the reason so many people have voted women as the most beautiful, is probably because "beautiful" is a predominantly feminine word.

Don't give me stories like "I know lots of beautiful men" or "some women aren't beautiful at all", because thats not what I'm saying. What i'm saying is that there are gender implications in language. For example, the words handsome, sturdy or robust are more masculine words, whereas words like beautiful, dainty or graceful have obvious feminine attributes.

At any rate, women fit more into our idea of "beauty" rather than men, so NS women aren't crazy or lesbian, they just have a basic understanding of the english language. It has nothing to do with what they find sexually attractive.

Obviosly because of my instincts and hormones I will preffer looking at the female form, but from an artistic point of view I find both the sexes are equelly appealing when I remove sexual attraction from the equation. I actually sometimes find anatomical art studies of men more enjoyable than those of women because they are so much more dynamic and more perfect in terms of physically design (I'm facinated by biomechanics), even though I'm straight.

Heh. I am amused. I have only been gone a couple of hours and this has turned into a flame fest between those who do not understand the difference between finding something/someone beautiful and finding them attractive and people who understand the difference but can't force it through the others' skulls.

I'd like to take the challenge. I think it's fair to say that most mothers find their children beautiful. Do they find said children attractive? Let us hope not.

Ha! Well if homosexuality was a recessive gene then considerably very few would have the dominant gene. I think it is possible for people to "turn" gay. Of course, they're born gay but because of their lack of self-awareness and sexual experience, they may not identify their homosexuality until later on in life. Funny you mention Angelina Jolie. You as an individual are not representative of the whole. It can be said that generally, women spend far more time primping themselves and watching what they eat.

Well, I became involved in sports when my three children participated in school - the two girls ran track and played softball and my son played football, baseball, and basketball. Then he pitched (LHP) for Oklahoma State in college so - I am really into collegiate sports, as well as our Pittsburgh Steelers.

Pittsburgh is a great city. I'm not 'in" the city, though, I'm on the outskirts in a smaller city but, when I go there - I love it!! I think you'll find it a great place, too, and a little more calmer than New York.

Date enough women and be completely open about your sexuality (but not like a deserate or needy perv), it's incredibly amazing how many women will admit to wanting to sleep with another woman.

Actually, I wish I was bisexual. By being straight, I feel ripped off, like I'm missing out on a whole lot of stuff that I would otherwise probably thoroughly enjoy.

I didn't post this question for it to be a competition. I wanted to see it what other people thought. Yes, I realize I should have an option for those people who think both ways, but I want to know if people find a preference to a certain gender even though they are sexually attracted to the other. I've seen it done in front of me hundreds of times. It's amazing that most of the "chick magnets" I've ever known are not good looking guys at all. The good looking guys still get more action then ugly guys with no personality, but ugly guys with personality get so much play that it's absolutely mind boggling. It seems to go against common sense, yet there it is, happening every day right in front of our faces. It took me years of doing this :headbang: to finally get it, but I'm to a point where I now get it. Once you truly get it, then you can turn things in your favor and start getting more action then you know what to do with.

And even if they redshirt you the first year, no big deal. We've had a lot of kids from my area go to Pitt and sat out their first year - after that, they did fantastic. Beauty is subjective, so to a large extend it therefore comes down to culture and upbringing.
In some cultures (including the west 100 years age) females is supposed to be a bit choppy, in other cultures men have to be tall and skinny. So basically it tells a great deal about our culture, when the great majority of women think that woman are the most beautiful.

Anyway if we are to compare men and females, I suppose the best way to go around it is to look at a fully developed and perfect version of each gender. This means taking a male looking like Zeus, and compare him to an extremely beautiful woman. In my view the female would be the most “beautiful”, but a male looking like Zeus would be way more majestic and impressive.

Hmm, the words "majestic" and "impressive" in this context are correct (I feel). Aesthetically (?) speaking, women are the more beautiful (plus I'm a straight male), but presence and other similar qualities are important even if not necessarily linked to physical beauty. By the way, you do mean physical beauty, right?

I voted males were the most beautiful, believe it or not. Females are wonderful pieces of art, and are amazing to look at. But at the same time, the sight of a male can send me staring. Not in a sexual way, of course. I could spend hours studying a guy's face, while I'd never do that to a female.

I'm a heterosexual guy and I voted for men as the most beautiful. I'm not attracted to men so I obviously see women as being more attractive. And on the whole I think the average woman is a lot more beautiful than the average guy, but I think the Ancient Greeks had the right idea with their concept of the gymnasiac culture and the almost veneration of the beauty of the perfect male form. You just have to look at statues in the classical mould e.g. Michaelangelo's David and I think that's a level of perfection a female form can't attain. Just my, probably unorthodox, opinion.

I agree, women are less repressed in that way. It is socially normal for women to routinely remark on how attractive other women are, but if a man does the same about other men he is assumed to be gay.
