I've noticed that an extremely large percentage of those who prowse the General forum never RP, RP only rarely, or gave up RPing long ago. So, to those of you: what's your story? (Poll coming)

i never RP cos i spend too long on General as it is. plus i have no idea where/how to start RPing, so i can't be assed

I have an RP puppet that I've never actually used. I almost forgot about it, but I remembered it a few days ago and I'm thinking about starting to RP with it, as soon as I learn enough about RPing to not come over as a total idiot.

You're a pretty sharp guy. I know you'll be a damned good RPer. I, for one, am looking forward to it. ;)

I am trying to get back into it, like you know... I stopped due to my depression... I had other priorities. But they're being sorted out now.

A lot of people here- Swimmingpool, Bodies Without Organs, Drunk Commies, Europaland, et. al., would make pretty good RPers, I think.

Other: I RP on occasion, but generally avoid doing so. It's sort of hard to explain really, but anybody that's been around me for a while knows why I picked "other".

Not right now. The Empire is in the Deneb star system, 3228 lightyears away. I do plan to return to pluto and charon soon, however.

I used to RP, but stopped once fall semester started and I didn't have the time to devote to it. Now I'm out of school, but I'm too lazy to get back into it.

I roleplay in fantasy and 'superhero' games, primarily.

The seductions of the evil tease* of a bard don't work as well on a NationState level.

*Number one reason to never do more than tease. Most of the 'cute girls' IC are guys OOC. And they usually wait until after you've rejected their advances to tell you. Thus, reject all advances, unless you're in to 'whatever'. Still, teasing the hell out of people is fun, especially when they get all mad OOC.

I RP a fair amount, most of it on regional offsite forums. I only started RPing on the NS forums themselves recently. I have one character RP going in NS and a couple of storefronts in II. :)

I don't RP much, but when I do, it's in the NSUN forum. Actually I've just submitted a draft dealing with government transparency that I've been working on for a while, on the few moments of spare time I have for such endeavours.

I don't know if I'll ever have the time to launch an effective approval campaign, but the process of drafting can be quite rewarding itself.

On Ns I was in the Indiana Jones one...which died, and I'm an active member of the NS United Nations Strangers Bar.

i used to Rp all the time. at one point i had 30+ yahoo messenger Rp names. many of which i used regularly. but after a year or so i started to burn out. Ill still Rp now and then, but its very rare. only because good Rps are so hard to come by. im hoping to start Rping regularly now on general

ok, time for a fantastically n00btastic question (and a good 4 page bump ;) ). i want to get into RPing, but have seriously absolutley no idea how to, or what its like (yeah i could go read a few threads in RP but its so much better (and easier) to ask :))

so whats the tone of RPs? can they be funny? are they all serious?

do they all involve the military, are all about conquest?

how much leeway do you have to do what you want?

what kind of background can/do you have to make up for you nation?

Pure Metal is an island, as it happens in the shape of a Gibson Flying-V guitar ;). it has a massively long beach and, so far, one city :)

I've never RPed here before, mainly because playing a nation is very different from playing a single character as I usually have. Still, I plan to try it. Probably practice in International Incidents first, and when I get the hang of it move on into NS.

I'm working on an RP specifically for history, but I didn't meet the deadline that I had planned because I keep on exhausting my day's ration of creative ideas. I have to actually plan out my RP puppet's government and all, and its particular quirks, and all that stuff, and it still has some wrinkles I must iron out before I can start writing the RP.

w00t finished my map... now if i didn't have this essay to do i'd get on with a little history, some major characters and start thinking of a cool RP plot... :headbang:
