No, it wasn't. Dan Brown is not that good of an author, and all it has going for it was some interesting tidbits here and there. Very low quality writing.

Try Umberto Eco's "Foucault's Pendulum". Much better plot and much better writing.

I'm in the school of thought that states "Dan Brown is the religion equivalent of Michael Chricton, only with slightly more characterization, and slightly more factual flaws, but still heavily lacking in the characterization department."
