On 13 March we commemorate the anniversary of the Dunblane primary school shooting in Scotland, in which 16 small children and their teacher lost their lives.

Two other teachers and 12 more children were wounded.
The anniversary of Dunblane is a time to remember those who were lost.
I hope you will all join me in praying for their souls, I have no doubt that they will be taken into enternal paradise.

I don't pray, but will add my word of consent. It is truly horrible how people do such things. Please, pray for them.

I give my thoughts to the victims of Dunblane, and all the victims of other massacres whose only protection against their attackers was to hide and hope.
We should all try to appreciate the terror these students must have faced, huddling under a desk or behind a wall with the knowledge that there was nothing they could do but hope.
May God bless their souls...

And all victims of violence across the world. School shootings are much in my mind having recently watched Bowling for Columbine on tv.

What happened to the shooter? Does the UK have the death penalty for people who do this sort of thing?

the only thing we have the death penalty for is treason, and you wouldn't even get it for that. he's in a high security loony bin somewhere is my guess.

Actually if I remember rightly he shot himself straight after he shot all of them.

Thomas Hamilton, turned one of his four guns on himself after killing or injuring all but one of a class of 29 five- and six-year-olds. He robbed the families of their children and the country of it's justice. I wonder if god will be able to forgive him.

I remember the Dunblane massacre. I think that the killer killed himself along with his victims, but I might be wrong. The UK does not have the death penalty.

Just to clarify...
A local man, 43-year-old Thomas Hamilton, broke into the primary school on March 13, 1996 and opened fire on a class in the gym. In addition to those killed, he injured 12 other children and two teachers before killing himself.

Why should God forgive him? He killed/injured 28 5 and 6 year olds.

bump for NS, and the kids.
RIP all those kids and the teacher....i still remember hearing about it like it was yesterday, despite being only 11 at the time...maybe thats what hit me hardest, i was 11 and these kids were even younger...and they were dead because some maniac decided he wanted to kill someone...

/me says a silent prayer for both the living and the dead.

...
This is a remembrance topic. Not a gun debate topic. Not a death penalty debate topic.
The only reason I didn't publically post my prayer is because I don't want this turning into a religion/athiest debate topic, either.

I was 11 at the time too and the first time I really became aware of human mortality.
