Firstly, makes me wonder, if you have so many enemies throughout history, maybe it's justified? And knocking on doors when hunting terrorists... hahaha... great propaganda. And as for territories, that is a different manner, there was no Palestine, so it was legal to put up settlements in the new land. Especially if you consider that once Israel starts growing, Israel is a very small place....settlements should be legal for cases like that.

Instead of implying that you're something special just because your religion happened to make it through the centuries, despite heavy prosecution by varios cultures, you should be glad that none of them succeeded. It's not a matter of being better, its just aknowledging the fact that they are a people of perseverance. That's true of huge numbers of Catholics of Polish decent (don't know if that applies to you). There used to be a Jewish empire in Eastern Europe and so now Americans tend to think of certain Eastern European appearances as being Jewish appearances just like we tend to think of lots of German last names as being Jewish.

Democrats tend to reach out to oppressed groups more. Jews, being a classically oppresed group, tend to gravitate towards that inclusive sympathetic vibe. Even if it means being welcoming to members of groups that happen to have intolerant factions. e.g. Don't try to boot out the blacks just because there's such a thing as The Nation of Islam.

Republicans side with those who have the money and the power. Right now that happens to be Israel, but it also happens to be Saudi Arabia. A handful of neo-Zionists (not a real term, just one I use to point to the Israli equivilant of a neo-con) gravitate towards that imperialist function of the Republican party, but most Jews are too well educated and too well versed in the faults of oppressive regimes to be taken in by it.
