Nikoko Game Review #1:

World War Two Online developed by Cornered Rat Software.

Some info about the game:

World War II Online is a combined arms, online simulation set in a relentless, action-packed 3D environment where players can command and crew a variety of accurately modeled vehicles, naval vessels and aircraft or sling weapons and fight as a foot soldier with and against thousands of other players.

World War II Online is the first and still only massively multiplayer first-person virtual battlefield that covers a 1/2 scale map of Europe with accurate terrain modeling. It allows thousands of players to fight 24/7 in a persistent world in which character advancement and career paths provide a rich RPG layer and strategic systems are driven by player missions and command structure.

World War II Online features the most historically important vehicles and weapons of WWII. The game includes weapons and vehicles from Britain, France and Germany- all accurately detailed and modeled like never seen before.

I've played this game for four years, the graphic updates are amazing, but it's almost TOO REAL. As infantry you are most likely to be shot dead before you hear the gunshot because most ammunition is supersonic. Using Tanks and Aircraft effectively requires research into historical records, with the map so large it takes hours to walk inbetween towns.

Player organization into squads, brigades and divisions mirror their WWII counter-parts. The game is absolutely great with team speak, but players without a mic find the chat interface extremely crowded and fast moving. There are no such things as health points or such, if your shot in a tank, the game will check to see if the velocity, shape and weight of the projectile will breech the armor using WWII statistical data.

Factories produce tanks, aircraft and vehicles, bombing these factories can cut production and research. Army commanders decide how much of what is built. Day/night cycles and weather effects add to the virtual battlefield in a way medal of honor and battlefield 1942.

Originally launched with extreme gameplay issues, including sub-par graphics, insane requirements and massive lag issues, the game has been continually patched and updated, into a wonderful package anyone wanting something more then just the normal shoot 'em up. CRS will soon launch: WWIIOnline: Beyond Blitzkrieg, a grounding breaking

WWIIOnline is the first and only real virtual battlefield.

You can drive for an hour in a massive tank and suddenly die, with no warning, no second shot, not even a sound as a hypersonic anti-tank round rips through your armor, penetrates your engine block and cooks off your ammunition storage.

Everything else, is just a game. ;)

Which is why, WWIIOnline isn't for everyone.

A dream come true for history buffs and hardcore players, but script kiddies and 1337 hackers need not apply.

Graphics: 8 (New patches promise to bring the game

Gameplay: 9 (A few hours of frustrating boredom with a few sporradic minutes of pure terror and absolute pule pounding action that will leave you thirsting for more.)

Sound: 6 (New updates continue to improve the system, with a single distant shot a mile away you can tell if it was a German Panzer3F, Stug IIIB or an Allied Matilda.)

Network Play: 10 (With over 12,000 active players on one map, pure ownage.)

Cost: 3 (The per month pay basis will turn most players off, but with constant updates and game expansions for free, it's money well spent.)

Overall: 9 (What more is there to say? OH YA, there is a free trial! https://secure.wwiionline.com/scripts/wwiionline/user/promo.jsps )
