This message is to pretty much everyone, but I'll aim it at a group I'm a member of, so that I can't be accused of bias: Christians.
When someone tells you that evolution is how we came about and presents you with a list of sources and facts, don't tell him he's a heretic destined to burn in hell. Don't say "if only you had faith". Acknowledge his points and address them, or if you're unable to, admit it.
Always be open to new ideas, especially ones that don't fit in with the way you view the world. Adaptability and reasonableness are all too rare, and it is refreshing to see.
Don't buy everything you're told, and don't support things mindlessly. You'll be doing a favour to yourself and those around you.
Sorry for the rant but I felt like getting that off my chest.

As far as I know the Hale Bop people used a combination of vodka and phenobarbital combined with plastic bags tied over their heads, and the Branch Davidians were just massacred by federal agents.

I would agree do not form your beliefs from mere hearsay.

For example if I told you God spoke to me and gave me these tablets of rules and laws ( Oh sorry I do not have them to show) you see there is this bad bad enemy of god named satan and he took away the tablets from me trying to disprove my word and my writings.

Just trust me god loves you I really did see the bush on fire honest. I know no witnesses again and no photos or well really any objective evidence at all but please put your reason aside and your free will thoughts they are kind of useless anyways and just have faith. I would never ever make it up for politcal gain or power of any sort.

you were right earlier. these things just don't stay on topic. i was about make a post advertising my top notch Garglemeshian fallout shelters and make a few imaginary bucks off of this thing, but i thought better of it.

In the spirit of not contradicting myself on my own thread, I acknowledge that I wasn't there to see any of these events, and thus cannot testify to their truthfulness.

Seriously though, I wasn't trying to debate the bible or evolution. I just get so sick of people who make statements and then refuse to back them up. Especially when they purport to represent something I agree with.

gotta agree with you. Lack of evidence except for 2,000 year old books written by subjective authors and translated by subjective religous fanatics (aka 1300 monks) leads me to believe that religon is kinda sham. Unfortuneatly they can all just say it's the devil who's making you disbelieve or say that the devil tricked you. I used to be christian. Left cause of this reason. They do have good morals thoguh, helping others is nice (but not at my expense). Do you realize how much of our country is doing absolutely nothing useful?! like 2% priests/nuns . thats 2% people eating food and having shelter and comforts that work absolutely 0%.
