I'm so talented :P

I just managed to turn an XL tshirt into a sleeveless top that fits me (I'm an XS). All this was accomplished without a needle and thread.

I rule, I wish I had a camera with which to show you the wondrousness of my handiwork!

(In case you're wondering WHY, it's because I'm part of a collective opposing voluntary student unionism, and we ordered a bunch of tshirts saying "I (heart) my student union. Unfortunately they were all really big sizes...)

I don't know why I'm making this a thread... I just am. You can all share you secret talents here too!

Sounds good huh?
Well it's actually a misnomer, since the legislation would allow the government to make decisions regarding what unions are allowed to spend their money on. Goodbye representation, hello higher fees.

Also it would reduce union funds such that we'd lose heaps of facilities that we currently have, like free healthcare, counselling and union house.

Basically VSU= silent students

but closed shops are inherently bad. not even students should be forced to join a union. so I would be anti this piece of VSU legislation but pro VSU.

and i have no hidden talents :(

and xs girls in xl shirts look hot. why modify?

Well, yeah. Currently students can opt out of the union if they want. In an ideal world, it would all be voluntary, but most people would realise that a union provides essential services that pretty much every student uses. I mean, who turns down the free beer?

And I'm sure you have a talent.

About the shirt, it looked like I was wearing PJ's... Not cool. I was very lost within its vast cottonyness.

i think that's cute. hidden pedo tendencies mebbe.

so if the union is already voluntary, why worry?

so if the union is already voluntary, why worry?
Firstly because of the increased government control, and secondly because the proposed system would be an "opt in" system we are expecting to see membership drop greatly (due to apathy, or just not knowing what the union provides) and therefore anticipate a loss of services.

Also the government has repeatedly stated that it wants to see universities "run like businesses" i.e. to produce a profit. They're talking about privatising services and stuff, which would actualy COST us money. That, and without representation the governmnt would be free to push through more fee increases and cut the number of deferred payment places in degrees, as it has already started to do.

I'm sorry if that didn't make sense, I've gotta toodle off to bed...

I can rip a sheet of paper into three parts by making 2 little cuts. (Try it, it sounds easy, but it's impossible. Except for me! :D)
