Hey! Let's gripe about society!

ok, first, read <a href="http://www.lex18.com/global/story.asp?s=2989614">this</a>. or not.

If you read it, skip this paragraph, I'm just gonna explain it. So basically, this high school junior in Kentucky has been arrested for threatening terrorism, which is a class 2 felony. Ouch. Unfortunately, this 18 year old's plot of destruction included an army of zombies. Yeah, that's right. According to him, he wrote a short story for his English class in which a high school was overrun by zombies. The boy (if you want to know his name, it's in the story; I'm too lazy) also claims that his story makes no mention of his highschool, any of the staff, or any people that he knows. I'm getting visions of UPS trucks just thinking about this.

Ok, first off, we're gonna have to arrest R.L. Stine, because in monster blood 2... well, it was like the Hampstergeddon episode of Invader Zim, only monster blood instead of alien augmentations, and the disaster stayed on school grounds.

Secondly, oh em gee double-yew tee eff! This is just sad. It's just wrong that people can get so scared shitless when disasters happen, that they do things like, pass the patriot act, go to war... yeah. How can people not realize that sometimes things happen that are horrible, and it's not time to panic and take away free speech, or form groups like MAVAV and blame everything on video games? There are people out there who are just plain messed up, whether they have a diagnosable medical condition, or are so focused on their beliefs that they defend them with violence. This stuff is going to happen! Terrorists are going to attack eventually! The very fact that we upped airport security, and started profiling everyone is proof that terrorism is still effective. People are going to turn out to be murderers, thieves, rapists, and madmen; it's just a fact. They exist. There's no, "cure all" scapegoat that's going to make us all safe, we're not. Planes will crash. Trains will wreck. Earthquakes will send waves of death over the land. IT JUST HAPPENS. You just deal with it and move on. You don't start outlawing words, or arresting people for writing something(fiction or not, in my opinion) that is violent, or ban video games because they "encourage violence," or do any number of things that slowly turn our country into something other than the land of opportunity.

America is the land where all people are welcome and can live the life that they choose without fear of persecution, remember? Remember when laws were to protect our rights, instead of to remove them in order to protect us from each other?

Yeah, that's it.

|By the way, I found out <a href="http://a.parsons.edu/~dyoo/2002-3/interactivity/mavav">MAVAV is fake</a>, so at least there's still some sanity left in the world.|

Um, yeah, let's not make this thread all about how I have no idea what I'm doing when I include HTML in my posts. We're all moderately grown up here... some of us.

Wow. Three cheers for Kentucky for being in the forefront of the domestic war on terror!
There's so many things wrong with what happened to this kid. First, and foremost is the complete lack of common sense by anyone involved. Actually, that about covers it.

Edit:
Of course, the kid doesn't speak like he's writing best-seller quality material, either. So you wonder what else they found in the house.

"It didn't mention nobody who lives in Clark County, didn't mention (George Rogers Clark High School), didn't mention no principal or cops, nothing,"
said Poole. "Half the people at high school know me. They know I'm not that stupid, that crazy."
