Well I can bench my body weight! admitedly, the last time I checked that wasn't very much, about 160 lbs, but still.

Don't get me started on the state of the US single engine piston fleet.

Well at least your staying away from cessna. Can anyone say slipping seats. (oops).

Good God I hate Cessnas. Their stalls speed are way too high for me.

Five bucks says no one else has any clue on what we are talking about. :p

But you know, I got to admit, some of the experimental are nice. Espically the one with compsite material. Smoother skin, less air resistant, more fuel efficent etc.

Cessna? Tommahawke? I assume its a small, fixed wing plane? Gliders don't count, they don't have engines...

i do, vaguely, know what you're talking about in terms of stall speeds and the likes (i was big into avation throughout grade school), unfortunately it's been too long since i've looked at any of my old airplane books to get the specific references to panes (although I would know them as a plane, i wouldn't know the specifics)

Standard trainer though. Insurance companies like them. (Well as much as they like any single piston engine).

Yah, but I always feel worried about aircraft that some dude just thought up, even with non-experimentals. Look at cirrus, they escaped having to get full certification because of the little parachute gizmo. Now it turns out that they maybe a skosh spin prone.

I salute your bravery though, flying the death tubes for fun.

LOL, Well what would you recommend I fly? Beechcraft? lol.

I actually kind of like the Cirrus parachute gizmo. That way if you need to put the aircraft down, you can without damaging it much and being out of a ride.

There is the old joke, every small aircraft wrongful death suit starts "there were these two doctors in a barron...."

Yeah, I also like the 'idea' of the parachute. But I know of at least one case where the rocket didn't deploy until after it hit the ground. Good job cirrus.

Personally, I don't think there really is that much to choose safetywise, other than to mention stay away from cessnas without seat stops, (and always check the seat rails), and wait until the cirrus fleet has matured so people can get a better handle on its perfomance. (Though at those prices that could take a while).

I mean, I know a guy who loves, really loves, his barron. I also know someone that loves his Maule (go figure). If you are going to fly the death tubes, whatever suits. (It's not really my thing).

Yea, I think it takes a certain kind of people to enjoy and really appericate aviation, espically at the General Aviation level.

I love flying, I love it so much I don't want it to be spoiled by having it as a job. That why its stictly a hobby for me.

I agree with that. (From personal experience).

GA is a great community though, you meet some really amazing people, and a lot of the guys, especially in the rural areas, have a real community spirit.
