Spongebob and Homosexuality

Could someone please explain to me what Spongebob has to do with gay people? I read in a post that in the Spongebob movie he said something about tolerating gays. I haven't seen the movie yet, so I've no idea what those people were talking about.

I don't think Spongebob is gay.

But the idea of fucking Spongebob - now that's sick.

Well ya, that would be really gross. But that still doesn't answer my question.

I haven't seen the movie either. I think people just like to get their drawers in wad over nothing.

But, you gotta admit, he does spend an awful lot of time with Patrick...

I think it's just some people with their ponytails tied too tight, and their panties all in a bunch.

I aslo heard once that Spongebob is made by a gay company, and that the person who plays his voice is gay. No idea if it's true or not.

Is that even physicaly possible?

Anyway. I think the whole problem the religious groups have with Spongebob is that he's very flamboyant, and can be seen "holding hands" with his friend Patrick.

Then there was this whole thing about a bathtub and Squidward...I dunno. It's all a load of anti-gay sensationalism if you ask me. I doubt anyone would be turned homosexual by watching a square yellow thing.

A gay company? What is a gay company? One that only fucks over smaller companies of the same gender?

It's not as if the people or company that make Spongebob are going to come to our houses and nail us while we're picking up the soap in the shower.

I think that a lot of these uptight people would be ignored if the news media just considered their remarks a non-story.

Mark Barondess, the lawyer for the "We Are Family Foundation" told "The New York Times" that any critics of the video "need medication."

We here found it hard to argue with him.

Agreed.

It's not fear of people turning homosexual. Its people full of hate who are scared that tolerance might be spread. Its not enough for them to hate gay people, instead they have to make others hate us too.

The problem is, bob was in a commercial promoting respect for everyone.

Obviously this is unacceptable to conservatives, who would never dream of treating gays with respect, and want to be free to teach their children to hate and fear them.

Well, though it is sad sometimes, that's what freedom of speech results in. Fortunantely, we are free to oppose them--and loudly.

Ach, you're right. Hate: The most contagious virus.

But...I'm fairly certain that in some backwater areas of the world they think that you can be converted to homosexuality.

There are people on this very forum that think its a choice, so you're probably right. Of course, I've found that people who think you can choose rarely know any gay people--or at least they don't know they know them because they gays are smart enough to keep their mouths shut around morons.

Obviously, watching a bright-yellow animated sponge cavort with his friends is going to turn an entire generation of kids gay.

It is much more desirable that these confused young boys be sheltered in a church where they can be sodomised by the priest. Then they'll be perfectly assured of their heterosexuality, right?

Or better yet, get them involved in a manly team sport where they all take group showers after a hard game.

Ok, here's the "real deal", not the lies that the liberal media is spewing.

Neither Sponge Bob nor his producers are gay.

Sponge Bob was included in a video that included myriad cartoon and other characters, INCLUDING a character from a show where the main character went to Vermont (my home state, sigh) and their friend's parents were both female.

The people that complained about it were not bigoted, intolerant, narrow-minded nazis. They were parents concerned about how to explain such a thing to their children if they should see it in passing.

It is notable that government money was being used to produce a show with these alternate viewpoints, and said government agencies have since questioned the use of their educational money in an obvious political tactic.

Now that was HILARIOUS! I just got done watching the MSNBC report over the Spongebob debate. Quote,"Be warned, this video could cause you, your children, your family, or your furniture to become gay or tolerant."

I wonder what Ms. Frizzle thinks of homosexuality... I bet she's not a bigot.

The best way to define what spongebob is. Take the most stereotypically gay persona you know of, strip it of any mention of sex and give it the niavete of an innocent 5 year old. Stick it in an asexual sponge's body. That is what comprises spongebob. End of discussion.

There was one episode I watched where he and Patrick went head to head in some sort of fry cook off, and at the end they made up and held hands while walking into the sunset.

Just like any five year old would hold hands with his new best friend.

Na, if you ever get these "social conservatives" talking they'll tell you things like "we can't just let people do whatever they want or people are gonna start having sex with children and animals."

Which is just retarded. California went its entire history without needing a law against necrophelia until last year. And once word was out that they were going to ban it there wasn't a single morgue that opened a "get 'em while their cold" sale to take advantage of the last minute rush. People who don't have sex with animals, children, corpses, or members of the opposite gender

"Social Conservatives" are guenuinly, though not always admintedly, afraid of all sorts of crazy things, including the possibility of the whole country just decending into a homosexual orgy of unproductive secular sex.

That's pretty easy really, just explain that sometimes a man and a man or a woman and a woman can love each other, and that there's nothing wrong with that.

I imagine that bigoted, intolerant, narro-minded nazis would have been concerned about their children seeing videos in school that promoted tolerance of Jews, Gypsys, and homosexuals.

Man, it's so funny the lengths people will go to to get out of raising their kids. Seriously, what is wrong with these censor-crazy whackos?

Really, is it worth going to all the trouble of trying to get an innocent and heart warming TV cartoon taken off the air waves to protect your children from reality? As opposed to just pulling one of these...

That's pretty easy really, just explain that sometimes a man and a man or a woman and a woman can love each other, and that there's nothing wrong with that.

BAM! ...you've got tolerant kids who [suprise, suprise] didn't turn into raging queens [not that there's anything wrong with that] because Sponge Bob and Patrick held hands. It boggles the mind.

P.S. Falhaar, will you adopt me? :)

No, the guy who voices spongebob is happily married and has kids. Probably not gay. Also there are no gay companies. Companies tend to employ both gay and straight people, and sell stock regardless of sexual orientation. An all gay company? That would be really weird.

But not without precedent. United Steelworkers has been all-gay since 1975. I think the longshoremen's union is officially bi-curious.

People always seems to find hidden meanings in childrens cartoons.

Ans just to check... bi-curious? Does that actually mean what it sounds like; not actually bi-sexual i'm just curious about what it'd be like.
You Forgot Poland
10-03-2005, 22:08
I think "bi-curious" can mean a couple of things.

For girls, it means: "I make out with girls to get attention at clubs."

For guys, it means: "Hi, I'm a Steelworker in denial."

10-03-2005, 22:13
Spongebob is not gay. Spongebob is not straight. Spongebob isn't bi, either. Sponges reproduce through sporing. This fact was made apparent in a episode of Spongebob when Sandy and the rest of the gang was arguing about which was better, sea creatures or land creatures and Spongbob himself asks, "Can you reproduce by sporing?" to which dozens of other 'spongebobs' popping out if his body goes "Can you? Can you? Can you?"
