Left, right or dead-centre?

NOTE: The poll above is mainly about civil rights etc. I'm no politician when it comes to jargon :p

Strange that this is a political game and I am yet to see a poll asking this simple question:

"Are you libertarian or totalitarian?"

So here one is.

Why didn't you ask that in the poll?

The left-right line is a measure of economic policy. The left is for a controlled economy, while the right is for liberalised economic policies.

I see good in both left and right, so I am centrist. But on social issues I am extremely libertarian.

Could be. I'm no politician, I don't do political jargon. For all I know being left-wing, liberal and libertarian are all the same idea.

Oh, yes, and I'm far left. Not extreme, because I am against the relaxation of drug laws and gun control.

OK. Like I said above, I don't really do political jargon. What I meant by left and right is civil rights etc.

Very slightly right, and slightly authoritarian, according the political compass (therefore, voted right-leaning). But I don't fit into a political box very well, since I am very liberal about some things, and quite the opposite about others. I decide on my own views, and therefore don't care that much about ideology ;)

There seems to be an implicit idea in here that "left-wing" means libertarian on social issues. If we suppose that Left is equal to more government and Right is equal to less government, then surely to be socially libertarian would be right-wing?

OK. Like I said above, I don't really do political jargon. What I meant by left and right is civil rights etc.
So for civil rights, which wing is which?

A grid would be most accurate, with an x and y axis rather than the simple left or right scale. I thought it was social so I answered extreme left, but on economic issues I am not so leftist.

Left, right or dead-centre?
*quotes Badnarik.org*
The traditional left-right spectrum is one that political scholars have recognized is incomplete for some time. In fact, it's really only useful for tracking the answer to one question: "What part of your life do you think government should control?"

My opinions:

House Arrest, control orders etc: NO. I think that these could seriously affect civil rights.

Age Restrictions: NO. I don't think that you should be restricted by your age for anything.

Gun Control: YES. Uncontrolled guns just leads to murder IMO.

Does this make me far left, left-leaning or right-wing?

OI......house arrest is good if they have just been relesed from rehabilitation for larceny, etc.

NO AGE RESTRICTIONS? idk about you. but i don;t think an 8 year old should be able to go buy a fith of vodka, a playboy, and a pack of camels, but that's me

GUN CONTROL: too much gun control, and the honest people that can't get them legally will be murdered by the people who were getting guns illegally in the first place.

Economic Left/Right: -4.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.74

In other words, I'm fairly left in economics and moderately left in civil/political rights.

31 votes and counting...

The reason I started this poll, for those who want to know, is to find out whether the majority is libertarian or authoritarian.

(Yes, I know, left and right correspond to economic ideals)
