How long before zombies completely take over your town?

This is both an amusing and a somewhat frightening simulation of how long it takes for zombies to take over a city: http://kevan.org/proce55ing/zombies/
You can change several parameters of the scenario, which makes it even more interesting.

only problem with that is it can take up to a day and a hlaf to turn. you can be infected, sure, but it's gonna take a lot longer to become the walking dead. plus, if a horde of zombies catches you, they're gonna try to eat you. it's when they come close, but don't manage to kill you, that you join their ranks. most of those people would probably end up eaten.

It is. And the really interesting thing is that it can be applied to any number of scenarios, such as people being infected with a major disese like Dengue Fever or the Hantavirus. Fun, eh? :D

Me too. Have you ever seen one of the "Daisy World" simulations???

Did any of you ever try the version of that where you could tactically nuke the zombies? You can actually save people from the ambling death (not to be confused with the 'rambling death', where people talk you to death with meaningless comments).

There's another version, as I recall, that has the humans fight the zombies. When a human and zombie meet there is a small chance that the human will fight and kill the zombie.

Yeah...certain citizens *cough*microgunnuts*cough* within the structure carried pistols. And if they did the panic thing (where they run about all crazy-like) then they almost always missed.

Nah. They're all gooey on the outside, so they get glued. Either that, or they morph into some über-zombie a la Japanese cartoons

Wow, that's an awesome little thing.
I wound up with one little dude running back and forth in an alley between two clumps of zombies. I says to myself, time to take the city back! Time for a little of the John Carpenter zombie-fighting goodness! But no. There is no redemption in this grim, grim zombie world, and so his tiny pink light was extinguished in that alley.

Sorry, I had Anthrax on to start with. Followed by 'We'll meet again' by Vera Lynn as I tactically nuked the bastards :D

Not quite - I took exams in January. Since all my A-levels are modular, I do some more (including fucking synoptic papers) in June. This is just to make me more aggrieved before my June exams if I get low grades in some modules. Stupid bloody system.

Are synoptic papers pretty bad, then? I've got a few coming up and they sound like they'll be easier than regular exams, as you get some time to plan.
Still, I don't like modular A-levels either. It gives you less time to learn the theory.

I only get to plan for one of my synoptics. The other three are just exam papers which cover all AS and A2 work. The chemistry won't be so bad because it's multi-choice. But biology has a 25 mark essay question. This doesn't seem much to, say, history students who can get 50 mark-ers, but in biology...that is one large question. Plus, I agreed to do an Advanced Extension in Biology, where there are two 25 mark questions, plus all the other smaller questions. I hate work.

Man, you've got a lot on your plate. I get a week to plan my sociology and geography synoptics. Good luck with your results.
