Im sure some of you have heard that there is some preassure to put a memoria to Martin Luther King Jr. on the National Mall in Washington DC.
I am curious to know what your feelings are on the subject.

Personaly, my feelings are mixed.
So far all the memorials on the Mall are to either Presidents or war heros. It is true that King was a great man, but it would be rather out of place, in my opinion, even next to the Lincoln Memorial.
As a random example of a non-president, Ben Franklin didnt get a memorial on the Mall, and he seems like a good candidate to me.
And it seems silly to put an MLK memorial out there amoung all that white marble[/badjoke]
What I do think would be good would be a memorial IN DC, but thats just me.

So, what do you think?

Where would it be on the mall? Because I do think there should be a memorial in the mall area, but I'm not totally sure about right in the middle of the mall...

Seems like a plaque placed on the steps of the Lincoln memorial where he delivered the "I have a dream" speech would be most appropriate.

I should add, preferably with the text of the speech, although that would be a mighty big plaque.
