I've read some hints, but I've scrolled through the threads and I can't find the truth...

Is Zep leaving NS? I know Colodia is, and I've heard Dobbs Town left...who have we lost so far, and who else plans to leave? WHY!!!???

Nearest reason I could fathom why people are leaving is that it has been a slow couple of news weeks.

All the goodies are going, leaving NS to rabiate rightwingers like Urantia II and other propagandist forms. In fact, NS is since long a right wing forum lik e he described. Sad but true. BTW it is surpased by much better fora now in wich normal US persons with a decent argumentation can be found from centre right till centre left, without the blatent lies.

It happens to all great forums, eventually people will leave one by one, until there's so few people, even if there's active players. That the moderators will be more lax about spam and flames... so it will have it's pro's and con's.

It's nothing like the exodus that went down right during the move to Jolt. It's just the way things happen. Older posters get bored or frustrated and move on, and new posters come in and take their places. Life goes on.

well I promised you, Sinuhue, that I would try to come back once in a while, but for the most part I am just lurking in the limited time I allow myself from now on. It's lunch time at work at the moment. I still love the diverse opinions and this is a great place to get some of the best and latest news.

it was sad to see Zepp leaving but I agree with much of what he is saying.

I Wish I knew where Zepp might still be posting his stuff, cause he is a brilliant guy and I enjoyed his writings.

I just want to point out that I left because of time restrictions, not because there are a bunch of jerk-offs spouting their nonsense all over the board. NS has always had them. Plus I want to say that I am not doing it for some sort of attention (or because I am a follower/sheep), as someone had suggested before when referring to all teh goodbye threads recently. I Merely realized that I wasn't getting the work done at my job that was required of me.

I have noticed that most of the people who are leaving have had a tendency of being drama queens and taking NS too seriously. While I have enjoyed many of their posts, I doubt that I will miss them at all, especially after witnessing the debacle that was the "Most Respected" thread.

Let's see. First she claimed Sanctaphrax rigged the results when all four finalists got the exact same amount of votes. Then she attacked Sanctaphrax for allowing private voting, even though I allowed the exact same thing for the guys without any problems. Then, he made a poll, but it was private, so she started blindly accusing puppet voting. It was very immature. And she must have mentioned 30-40 times that she used to be a moderator.

Yeah, must admit that all her attacks pissed me off, even though I hardly know/knew her or Zeppistan at all. If she and Zeppistan had issues with Eutrusca, Tink, or whoever, then that's between them - as far as I was concerned, they had no place bitching about others on threads like that. I can understand them criticising others' points of views, but people should make such criticisms (a) on the points of views and not the person and (b) in relevant threads.

Tink as far as I have seen is the "fun" girl on nationstates, most respected seemed to imply some thing different. I thought it should of at least. If I'm not wrong, her and Tink did work it out in that thread.

I also voted on the nicest girl contest too. Again, she made valid points. We didn't know who really won that because the polls didn't show who was voting. It was all in fun. But I think her complaint was the lack of us knowing if it was being done fair. Which we really didn't have any idea because people could vote secretly.

I guess she was just tired of what she seen as unfair. I'm not sure she should of taken it less serious. But she was right in her complaints as far as I could see. I think there was no point in having the contests myself in the first place. I can understand why some would think having a contest that there was no way of telling if it had been fair or not would be even worse.

The thing that irked me was that Aerou and I ran the Nicest Guy contest EXACTLY the same way Sanctaphrax ran the Nicest Girl contest, and there wasn't any mention of foul play from Steph in our contest, but for some reason the exact same methods were suspect in Sanctaphrax's. I didn't understand, and I was very unimpressed.

Yes, but I believe the nicest girl vote was done in a poll that no one could see who voted for who, or how many puppets had voted. Because it didn't show that. She said that even the moderators could not tell if puppets had voted because no one knew who voted and who didn't and how many times.

I don't care. I just didn't think what people were saying was totally honest or fair. She is not here to defend herself. Seems like we should just let it go.

Still, I can't help but suggest that it was just bad blood needing release. Zepp and Steph were probably discussing when to leave even before that episode, I imagine the ill will they generated only hastened their departure. They left on a bad note, rather than a good one.

I think you might be right. She was always one of the best posters. I have been here for a year. I think she had hard feelings towards some of the ways she had been treated. I don't think we will ever know for sure. But it does stand to reason.

Most of my experience with them was very positive, even if we didn't agree on something. Many people here get a little over the top sometimes, but it doesn't mean they're always like that. Hopefully they'll cool off a bit and come back. If they can't, I will miss them.

Na, I think we're just trying to figure out why they left. People are bound to make value judgements about that, but such is life.
