for the same reason that you can't see past your own nose to recognize your hate for the very same that spews from the lips of, to hear you tell it, all liberals. your head is shoved, very neatly, up your ass. :D :D :D of course, i am kidding.
i am a fairly open minded person, though i do consider myself liberal. Being that i live many thousands of miles away from Iraq, or the middle east in general, i do not have a complete picture of the goings on therein, thus, the only things I, personally, quantify as propaganda are those that clearly are. Such as Al Jazeera, Fox News, and Micheal Moore films (which i love).

I'm a liberal and I don't agree with this thread. That does not make it propaganda. Anyway, before WWII most countries had a department of propaganda, these days its called media relations or Public Relations. Technically anything that is trying to teach you anything, or give you information, influence people to any opinion, right or wrong, is propaganda. So I guess this makes your thread propaganda, just like my reply.;)

Propaganda is the manipulation of the media, either by lying or highlighting things in a certain way, that sways the loyalties of the public. The British goverment invented propaganda as it is practiced today during the first WW and it was a magor success. Hitler was so inspired by the success of the method that he decided to make it his largest tool in rising to power; which just goes to prove that if you lie to people it will turn around and bite you on the ass later.
Anyway, propaganda happens all over the world now and probably the most outragous propaganda in the USA is Fox News, whose corperation is allied to the Republican party. They use extreme bias by ignoring everything that makes the opposition look good and ignoring everything that makes the Bush administration look bad, as well as by creating debates where the person mediating is bias and the opposing speaker is outnumbered. Right wing goverments are beneficial to big corporate companies, which means that media giants will usually use their power to sway the public in that direction if they can.

I consider pretty much everything propaganda. 'Cause it all is. I just don't happen to dislike propaganda I agree with.
Propoganda is propoganda, I look upon lefty propoganda with equal distain as I do with righty propoganda.
It's hard finding a good news source anymore... :(

I'm with you on this one. What they did on election night was fucking ridiculous, and is up there with what they did during the O.J. Simpson trials. They said he was 100% Guilty before they even started the damn thing!

Thats an oxymoron. The liberals and the conservatives , and just about every group, have their own spin on events. As long as that happens, a truly fair media will not occur, although there are medias that do so fairly well.

FOX NEWS IS PROPAGANDA!
FOX IS PROPAGANDA!
WHAT DO YOU THINK 24 IS? PRETTY GIRLS GETTING POISONED? EXTREME HATRED TOWARDS MUSLIMS?! IT'S ALL PROPAGANDA MAN! IT'S ALL PROPAGANDA! CONSPIRACY MAN, SAVE YOURSELVES BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE
*takes off tin foil hat*
Anyways, CNN and BBC are usually pretty consistant with the news. But the BBC and Fox aren't.
BBC is british broad cast just to let you know. And I don't like Michael Moore. Well, so basically I think alot of right winged stuff is propaganda, because alot of it is well.....half truths, half lies, and stuff. Read up on, All the President's Spin : George W. Bush, the Media, and the Truth, by by Ben Fritz (Author), Bryan Keefer (Author), Brendan Nyhan (Author)
You can cross reference that with the BBC to prove it's truth.

What?
Also, I would like to clarify something. Propaganda is a tool. It can benefit or harm a society. However, I personally find it distasteful. I have either a visceral and angry reaction to what I consider particularly insidious, and laugh at the blatant propaganda. A good parallel is ambushing in a war. I love to set up my own ambushes, but loathe it when my enemy does so to me. Even if I get pissed at his tactics, I still respect them. Which is why I am embarassed by my ideological kin. Republicans, and thus conservatives, are far superior strategically to the Democrats and liberals. I am inflamed by their propagandist success, but admire it all the same.

I am propaganda!
...
Hey, what about Propagandhi? That's a good band.
Historically I think the left, whatever that is, have been masters of propaganda. Far more than the right. I guess I mean that in USian terms of left and right. Only recently have I seen the right begin to use and manipulate propaganda effectively.
If you are a lefty yell racism and hate and think you win the argument. If you are a righty yell unpatriotic and wimp and you think you win. If you are in the middle sit on a fence and feel superior to both.

I could ask the same question. Why do (conservatives especially) call anything they do not agree with "propaganda"?
Actually it's called rhetoric, thats how we debate.

You want to talk about propaganda. Just watch Dan Rather and CBS sometime. Most of the major media providers do it in one way or another. That is how they sell themselves. If they just produced the news with no spin, how would us poor unintelligent idiots in the general public have any idea who to side with?
I think the U.S. is relatively bored with the News anyway. If they don't propagandize it for us they'll lose their market completely. Same with politics.

Propagandizing politics does not seem to be a thing U.S. does soly by itself ... by a long shot
