Since we have people who speak different languages on here, I thought it might be fun to be able to ask each other how to say certain words or phrases. So much more interesting than looking it up in the dictionary, plus you can get more naughty bits. ;)

My first questions are pretty benign. I am trying to remember my high school Spanish and I was wondering how to say "Don't bite" and "step up" en Espanol.

I'm not sure but this is what I do know besides the popular pera and puta:

Me astustas
You scare me.

Te odio.
I hate you.

Bata/bato loca/loco.
Crazy person.

Ya ni gaver yu Peruski/ I don't speak Russian

Ya nez na yu/ I don't know

"Step up" agatte, or ni shang 上がって, 你上

my personal favourites in the two languages:

sawaru na ("don't touch me") 触わるな

wo mei ji le ("I am exceptionally beautiful" subsitute "shuai" for "mei" to be handsome) 我美极了, 还是, 我帅极了

(Japanese and Mandarin Chinese) :)

step up depends on what sense you mean...like step up to the plate, or step up the volume, or step up to avoid tripping over the curb...

The first sentence I ever learned in Spanish is still my favourite:

Oh, um, whoops. Japanese and Mandarin Chinese (although my Mandarin's pretty shoddy these days; too much Beijing opera, not enough conversation ^_^)

I know a bit of Afrikaans.

"Maak jou mond toe." - Shut your mouth

"Sy praat deur a gat in die kop." Literally, "he speaks from a hole in his head," i.e. he speaks bullshit

I can think of one more but it's prolly too rude. ;) My Hindi is basically limited to food terms, names for relatives and random words like "pagal" which means crazy. :p

"Step up on my finger" to be precise. I am starting to talk to my bird in Spanish. It's slowly coming back to me, but there are still some things I don't remember.

I was telling him about "los pajaros (?) muy inteligente que usan "tools" y lost pajaros Japonese que usan los coches para "crack nuts".

Of course, he has no idea what I am saying, but he understands when I call him "mi pajaro bonito"; "mi pajaro guapo"; y "mi pajaro inteligente".

He understands what I mean when I say "Ciera la boca", so I would like to be able to give him more commands. Just a way of trying to put 4 years of high school Spanish to some use.

In portuguese:
Don't bite : Não Morde (Now Moorgee)

Step up depends on the meaning you want. Too many meanings to give a simple translation.

Edit: Step up on my finger? Never had to say that in Portuguese, but it would be
Sente-se no meu dedo. (No easy way to explain how to say "meu") and it literally means sit yourself on my finger which can have other implications :D

The first sentence we learned in Spanish was "El burro sabe mas que tu". (I have no idea how to put in the correct accentos...)
