Warren Zevon would be proud. (He had a song called "I'll sleep when I'm dead.")

After 36 hours, you're supposed to hallucinate. I've made it about 5 days as well, and I didn't even act weird. Some people react differently to exhaustion than others.

I started seeing funny things around day 4, but it was more of a "caught something out of the corner of my eye" thing than a "jesus christ there is a cricket performing vaudeville on my elephant" sort of thing.

My problem is it was solid school/work without break ... brain fried trying calc statistics at the 8- + hr mark lol (that and I used to do a lot of phisical work ... that was tough)

Same here, no acting weird, no hallucinating.
As I said, the trick is to eat. I ate about 2 Mcain Pizza pops, every 2 hours, the entire time.
Or whatever else I felt like eating, just snacks.
Caffine doesn't really work.

Lol, I sat around, went for walks, rode my bike around. It was the middle of summer, and I had nothing to do. I was only staying awake for so long because I wanted to see if I could.

Wouldn't this cause *ahem* digestive problems or something?

Lol, nope. Unless you mean I'd go to the bathroom more, in which case yes.
Eating alot didn;t hurt though, I'm already, and was then, too skinny for my own good.

I am trying to make two days without sleeping. Procrastination got me into this mess. I plan for sleeping for the next for four days afterwards. Any hints for staying awake will help.

Just getting up and walking around for a minute or two seems to help me when I start to feel tired.

Eat, eat whenever you're not full. And it doesn't have to be healthy. Ice creme, pizza pops, and pop are all good.
Oh, and the first 30 hours are the hardest, after that it's all down hill.

Ugh, I don't see how anyone can stay awake for more then 30 hours. The longest I've ever managed was about 29.
I think Keruvalia and I could beat anybody on this thread. Of course, we have an unfair advantage. I wonder who would win between the 2 of us?

If you feel you'll be needing to stay away for a few days and can plan for it, spend the evening before getting mad drunk and smoke a lot of cigs. This will sap all of the melatonin out of your body and you won't be able to sleep for a couple of days afterwards.
Barring that, I hear cocaine works.

Damn, Oksana. You've got more posts in a month than I do in two years. Then again, I hardly ever posted until recently :D

I'll bet I can beat you.
On a side note, never thought I'd start bragging about staying awake.
EDIT: I believe this calls for a new topic with a poll.

Lol ... I wouldn't know. Considering the fastest way to fall asleep is to force yourself to stay awake, we'd probably just crash the minute our brains realized what was going on. But, hey, then we could snuggle. :D

I just finished a bag of pocorn and a bottle of pepsi, I think a walk will do me good.

Why try not to sleep? Why?
Me, I sleep something like 9 hours every night. And I'm never sick (but I don't think it's related).

I've gone crazy from lack of sleep before. You know you're almost there when depth ceases to be a visual dimension and becomes an auditory one. *nod*
But I'm feeling MUUUCH better now! :D
