Parody- Since Some Have Asked: Why I embrace..

Since some have asked (ok no one has): Why I love Alaska.

Opener- Alaska is quite possibly the greatest location of all. You have long gorgeous winters and brilliant instantaneous summers. The traffic cops suck here, the driving is terrible, and the women are beautiful.

Childhood- I grew up in Alaska, my dad was from California and my mother from Puerto Rico. It is a long story how they came up here, but they came up here. From the beginning of my birth, I melded with the environment of Alaska. It is the crossroads for those traveling from Asia to anywhere on the West Coast. As a young boy I ran all over the neighborhood. The neighborhood back then was basically my coul-de-sac, an adjacent coul-de-sac, and some other neighborhoods a couple blocks back. In front of my neighborhood was forest; behind it was a big hill of dirt. One time when a bully was being nice to me we actually tried to dig to the bottom of the big hill. We played cops&robbers and hide-and-go-seek in the neighborhood utilizing the mini-forest around us.

Growing up- Getting older was just plain fun, I went to Kenai with family and friends to go set netting (lame kind of fishing). We always did this on Summer Solstice (everyday in summer is summer solstice in Alaska...but the specific day is even cooler). Soccer was a must for me. We played it like it was some sort of ancient fighting style. We battered, bruised, and broke our bodies. Camping was fun, but I did not do it that much.

Now- Now I love hiking, camping, trekking, and look forward to mountaineering. I have good connections with friends who have guns and knives collections. Anchorage is an employee’s heaven (or so it seems to me). Everywhere you go, you can find a new business or new job opportunity. I love the beauty of Alaska as well as my friends. The majority of us could never think of leaving here. This place is amazing, driving home to my neighborhood in the evening and seeing the sunset and the mountains pushing up into the sky. Imagining how much fun it will be to trek all over the Chugiak Mountains. These are my fondest thoughts. After I graduate and move out this summer, I should be out in the woods every weekend (I plan to be stricter with my employers this time around).

Conclusion- Anyhow, that is it folks. I handily put these markers for each paragraph for those of you who are like me and only like to read certain specific topics. I know there are many beautiful places in the world, (there are no absolutes to what is beautiful and what is not) but I mourn at the thought of leaving Alaska for longer than..a month or so.

I agree. Also, for you ladies out there looking for one,

Alaskan men: the odds are good, but the goods are odd.

It's a refernce to the days when men vastly outnumbered women, and most of those men were (and some still are) somewhat weird.

I've heard that Alaska has a kind of unspoiled beauty about it. Of that I have no doubt.

But...Not for me. I hate the cold. :p

Alaska is beautiful country. I hope to have a home there one day.
