The idea of leaving NS

This is my personal feelings towards leaving NS.

First off I respect Dobbs Town because to my knowledge she has not come back. .eaving NS because of the lack or diminsihing political debates taking place. But after devoting so much time to these forums is it not going to be tough to leave. It is like retiring for some people after devoting so much time and effort won't you feel somewhat less useful. All these people will take there political views into the rest of the world, but why not stick out here it seems to be rather informative if you can contribute to the cream threads that rise overtop over those that mediocre.

I left for a week and was happy to have left, but have come back since.
I am a news junkie and overall this place gives me my dailly fix.

Just wishing for any comments.

On leaving, well, some stay gone, others don't. But I for one feel kind of attatched to some of these people, even though I've never met them. It is sad when I don't get to interact with some of them anymore. This place is my release from life. (I have one, suprisingly enough) And you guys are great.

Though Alomogordo was only created in October 2004, my first nation was created in August 2003. I didn't start to become active in these forums until last December. But since then I've learned about all the big names--Lunatic Goofballs, Steph and Zepp, Keruvalia, Letila, Sdaeriji, etc. I don't plan to leave anytime soon. I know this disappoints many of you, but I feel bonded. We may be thousands of miles apart, but we're part of a bustling and proud community. Plus, I learned how to use these brackets like this . United we stand...

I am personally glad that the kneejerk political threads that Z & S and Dobbs Town used to frequent are drying up. Those were the worst of the worst, ego flexing bullshit. Nobody ever changed anybodies minds in those threads, because nobody went in willing to listen or learn in the first place. Absolutely nothing productive came from those threads.

No, that is the current state of the political threads. Even in my day (and I haven't been here for very long) we have had some worthwhile debates, and some have even made me examing my views. But not lately.

How dare you speak blasphemy of Z & S? No, I agree with you somewhat. I like political debate, not political mudslinging. Which, unfortunately, is the end result of healthy debate. *sigh*

I leave NS all the time.

Matter of fact, I'm going to leave it right now to go to the bathroom and then cut myself up an orange.

I don't really know the those particular people who are leaving since I'm a newbie. I shouldn't be posting this either because I'm going to become a scapegoat. However, I am extremely upset just with the fact people are leaving. I talk a lot with some of the old NSers, and I don't want to see any of them go.

I would like to point out to people a few things before they consider leaving. First, a lot of controversial political actions have occurred since 2003 when I believe NS started. I personally, came to NS because I was frustrated with the world and I thought it would be a constructive way of getting it out. People have not become more shallow or ridiculous. People are just cynical and upset. Some don't want to del with most politics, like me, because it has no purpose. Others feel like spam and entertainment are not conducive to this forum. So before you leave please realize the world has dramatically changed since NS started. At least consider taking a break instead of leaving for good.

This thread is more for me than anything else.

I am just trying to understand why people come here, what keeps them here, and there views on the political threads.

Also what would cause them to leave.

If you have comments on the people leaving, the old times on NS and its general end you should go to those related threads, so that this thread remains more focussed and productive.

With every NSer who leaves, the terrorists win.

Oooh ooh ... even better ...

In Soviet Russia, NS leaves you!

I hang around cos I have nothing better to do. :D And because I'm always online talking to my boyfriend. Stupid long-distance shit! :p

But I think people are sick of rehashing the same ground over and over again, to a fresh batch of loonies. :p

I hardly believe that many people gained anything from it, except information that backs up their own views.

It was like the sides were drawn and each side just tried to bring out the biggest gun they could find. No one ever gave up or switched sides, they just made a big fuss.

I do admit that I participated in some of these, but I slowly realized that no one really addressed the issues, but only other people's opinions of the issues.

Exact same thing why I'm even here, except change "Boyfreind" to "Girlfreind".

It does get annoying to see the same threads over and over. That's why I jump in and out of General at random intervals.

But Halifax is all the way over THERE *Points accross the bridge*.

Besides, it gets me too close to SMU, and I spend enough time there already.

Naw, this one is totally different. I left for two weeks during Christmas, Newyears just to party. It was nice coming back because I had a chance to miss it a little.

Couldn't agree more. But at least Dobbs was occasionally entertaining. Can't say the same for Zeppy n' Stephie.

I am more familiar experiencing the city courtesy of the drink not smoking. The only popular thing I know is the pot celebration on 4-11. But, I digress from my own thread.

your steel bra would do nothing to prevent successful hari kiri, or seppeku (sp?)
the tanto blade is pushed into the soft flesh of the abdomen, with the blade facing skywards. this is well under the underwire of even the toughest of armor plated bras. it is then thrust upwards, pulled toward the chin, as high as you can. if it looks like you shall fail, or scream there is a man behind you with a katana at the ready, who will promptly sever your head. lemme kno if you're ever planning on ritual suicide, btw, i've never chopped anyone's head off. i think it would be an interesting experience. :D

I love that word! (Tomfoolery)

I thought about leaving one time, and then I thought....that would be silly. Sometimes NS can leave a bad taste in your mouth I suppose. Maybe some people move on and really dont have time for it. But take a break instead of up and leaving. Sometimes thats all we need.....a little break. From NS, from work, from life.
