Why isn't there a political forum?

In light of Steph and Zepp's complaints, along with those of others, it occurs to me that there are really only two types of threads in the general fourm, political and random menial discussions. This leads me to believe that a division of the general forum, into poltical and non-political categories would be useful. It just strikes me as odd that something as politically-based as NS would not have froum spefically dedicated to the free exchange of political ideas. Thoughts?
Thoughts?Sounds like a bad idea. No offence.

If you had a forum for either politics or religion (two hot topics) General would be almost nothing, and since politics and religion can mix it would mean jumping between more threads. Plus I think it'd cost more, but I dunno about that, it would (I assume) take up more space on the server.

Not good idea.

seems to me that the NS users are smart enough to figure out which threads are political and which ones arent, no need for a whole section devoted to them.

What would the non political forum be. Jolt already has a spam forum.
It could be a polls forum I suppose, but this would overlap with the political anyway.
I am not distinguishing between religious, nationalistic and political as they are all too interconnected to be able to seperate anyway.
Basically what Patra said. It sounds like a good idea in theory, but then there would be only a couple of hot topics in each forum...plus it's just easier.

I've seen it employed on others forums withsome success. Not qite sure why you al think it would be so horrible.

I think it's a good idea. It would be nice to come to a forum that is politics-free when you just don't feel like quibbling over that kind of stuff. It's hard to find good non-political topics here, and the creation of a separate forum might give incentive for starting them. *shrugs*
