1 year ago this week, former Cincinatti Reds owner Marge Schott died. Many Reds fans mourned her passing, but I celebrated her passing. Why did I do this? Well in case you don't know who she was, she was a racist owner. She was a supporter of Hitler also.

She was forced to sell the team in 1999 after she referred to one of her outfielders as her "million dollar (racial slur for african-americans.)" I can't understand how Reds fans can still hold her in high regard.

I remember an episode on the HBO show "Arliss" where they satirize her in an episode where he has to deal with a character named Helga Krupp who is definantly based on Schott.

Judge peoples achievements independently from their opinions? That's all I can think of.

Have you ever spent much time in Cincy? If you have, you'd understand.

I haven't spend much time there, so I'll need some explanation. I guess a World Series may have something to do with it, but even that doesn't completely explain it. And I'm from Chicago where we haven't seen a victory from either of our teams since 1917.

Just look at where the team was when she owned it:World Series victory
And look at where it is now:a big joke
As far as her opinions, at least she spoke honestly about them. She didn't hide her views like so many others. And I'm not saying I agree with her either, just that at least you knew where she stood.
