Like vultures of human misery they've swooped down to see what they can pluck off the bones. They want to put this 'tourist attraction' right where several thousand died. Nice, really nice.

Plan for tsunami theme park
March 07, 2005

THAILAND'S tourism boss wants to build the "Universal Studio of tsunamis" simulating how the deadly waves struck and killed hundreds of thousands of people and laying waste to coastlines across southern Asia.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand governor Juthamas Siriwan tested the limits of taste by suggesting the proposed tsunami museum could become a tourist attraction along the lines of a Hollywood theme park.

Visits should be enjoyable and involve a virtual-reality experience of the monster waves hitting last December 26, she said.

"Maybe the next Universal Studio is in Khao Lak," Ms Siriwan said, referring to the devastated resort strip north of Phuket where thousands died, many of them foreign tourists.

This to me seems as stupid as the Sweedish website that proclaimed the Pope's death yesterday (http://www.news.com.au/story/0,10117,12465839-13762,00.html) (retaliation for www.godhatessweeden.com ?) or the man who didn't know he had a knife in his brain (http://www.news.com.au/story/0,10117,12465622-13762,00.html).

I can see if they build a memorial for those who died... and this park also educates people on how to look for signs of a Tsunami and what to do should you see the signs.

think of all those people who could've been saved if they reconized the signs...

and BTW, it was Thailan's tourism boss that suggested this, and the Tourism Authority of Thailand who proposed the Hollywood theme park idea. Not Universal Studios. nor anyone from another country (just to head off the flaming before it starts.)

Then why not build a infomation centre/memorial? The term theme park tends to bring to mind rollercoasters, junk food and screaming children. I can almost hear the screaming children with their junk food on Thailand's new rollercoaster caled "Tsunami!"

Aw come on, we all know the US is tied into everything wrong and evil in this world. I mean, just think about all those people that Stalin killed way back in the day. Everyone knows that's because the US wouldn't allow asteroids to hit the Earth. The Vietnam War set off the spread of AIDS throughout the world, and we all know it's because the POW's weren't really mistreated. So why not blame the US for the "amusement" park.

Or at least that's the kind of crap everyone else says. :sniper:

WTF? No one has said anything about America...

I think Nekone is referring to an interactive park... one where there is demonstrations as to the many Ways Tsunamis and Mega Tsunamis are created... what signs to look out for... with 3d modling and perhaps even minuture tsunami generators.
