Just what is the world's greatest sport. I predict a strong American/Rest of the World divide over the two footballs, but it should be interesting nonetheless. Please, let me know what you're thinking.......

I shoulda put on Ice Hockey, I always forget something. Decent sport, unfortunately my country only has one team :( Come on the Belfast Giants (Yes, i am Northen Irish. Leave me alone)

As for Extreme Frisbee, as we call it, I'm starting it soon, so maybe i'll put it on my next poll.

I can't call wrestling a sport anymore, seeing as how the "Professional" stuff is scripted now.

If you're going to go on a global scale. Soccer for sure followed by Rugby and Cricket. Soccer has roots dating back to God knows when all over the Earth. Every continent has excellent teams too.

I voted for NASCAR, but I also love american football.

I know a lot of people who don't watch NASCAR think of it only as a bunch of cars driving around in a circle (or oval), but once you pay more attention, you realize a lot depends on luck, the skill of the driver, the quality of the car, the speed of the pit crew, etc. And then you get caught up in the personalities of the drivers and you know who is loved, who is hated and what the rivalries are. Some drivers are really smart, some are quiet, some are big, spoiled babies, and some are just carrying on a legend started generations ago.

My family got me into watching NASCAR (my dad was always a fan, and then my sister married a NASCAR nut). We also watch drag racing - NHRA - because my hubby used to own and drive a Corvette that he raced.

American Football because I live fairly close to Lambeau field and being a Packer fan is like its own religion up here. Plus my hubby played for the Nebraska Cornhuskers as a freshman starter.

I know my choices are very much dictated by the egocentricness (is that a word?) of America, but my only brush with soccer was in high school where we tried to start a team. The first time I got hit in the chest with a ball, I gave that up...

When it comes to racing, F1 is better than NASCAR... even though it's pretty one-sided right now.

See, and I've never watched enough of it to know anything about it. My husband is a huge fan of all kinds of automobiles (owns a BMW and an Audi, only two of well over 100 cars he's owned), and we watch all kinds of documentaries. So I know about about the history of some of the F1 racers and races, but nothing current about the sport.

American Football.

The entire experience is great... Though Soccer (or Football) isn't too far behind (I guess).

F1 is more about engineers than it is about sport. Engineering is not a sport. It's Engineering.

That said... WRC > F1

My vote goes to Baseball. There's something about hearing the crack of the bat against the ball that I'll never get over as long as I live.

In second comes Football. I'm talking armored men running into each other in an attempt to get a pigskin to a designated end zone, not that second rate girly man sport you Europeans play (and get beaten by South Americans at).

This is supposed to be the world's greatest sport, right? The people of Nauru are hardly going to vote for something like American football, are they? They would probably vote for soccer, seeing as they actually have one of those teams. The world's greatest sport has to be participated in all over the world, not just in a few select superpowers.

Just because a lot of countries don't play it, doesn't mean that it's not an equally great sport.

Football is a lot more difficult than it seems, and is why only Super Teams (1984 Dolphins, 1997-1998 Broncos, etc.) can score a lot of points against other teams.

I try to keep up with the NLL. I've liked Buffalo for years but I don't watch so I don't know if they're good or not. No channels that show NLL
