Ns General Forum, the Battleground of Left vs Right

Well I’ve only been around a bit but while I’ve been here I’ve seen about 50 odd why the U.s is X and so is bad, start normally by left wing Europeans and of course the Why the U.s is Y and so is Good, normally by right Wing Americans.
Simply repeat this for, why Christianity is x and so is bad by left wing y, why Christianity/abortion/homosexuality is yadayada yada. And youd have about 95% of the posts here.

Not that I’m trying to say all Europeans and socialist or all Americans and right wing inquisitors, personal experience forbids me for doing so, but it appears there are some serious trends

So being a man of inquisitive nature I thought it be interesting to try and get people to categorise them selves.

Here ill start with a little template I thought up
Occupation: Student
Live: Britain
Age: 17
Stance: Left Wing : Socalist/Troskysist
Religion: None (was catholic)
Class: Middle

Come on chaps and chapettes of course you don’t have to follow my template but if I get enough repose i guess i could produce some sort of fancy graphical table or some such.

sorry dude, a good and commendable idea but its been done on the basis of political compass scores by Swimmingpool. his threads possibly still alive somewhere if you can be arsed to look for it :)

Swimmingpool’s was by name and political compass score. This one could, in theory, be by location, age, occupation, self-proclaimed ideology and religion.

Yeah i know of the political compass, the purpose of this was to try and find trends in location occupation age relgion and so on, some are appearing allready.

Note actually i ve just thought of this could you also include your 'class' if you will a bit touchy but where are you roughly on the rich poor devide

For example im
Class: Middle

could you go back and edit yours if you havent got this, it might give a few important trends.

I did a basic thread about class a few weeks ago. Essentialy people always end up saying they are middle class or upper middle class. No one is ever "upper class."

HE! is trying to get a list of diffrent varible and then produce several graphs and see if there are any corelations, not all at once that probally wont work your right but things such as location class and occupation against political belife might produce some intresing things. or relgion class and political belifes.

Please try and keep it serious, no jedi relgions or insane age reponces

Yeah, that's what I was trying to say, that a poll wouldn't work since you want to compare them in that way.

No, libertariannism is an entire other axis of the political spectrum. There are leftist libertarians like me, and right-wing libertarians like, umm, I'm not sure who, and centrist libertarians like Swimmingpool. An example of non-leftist libertarianism is the Libertarian party in the US, which is right-wing and libertarian.

EDIT:
Whoops, I just realized you said not to have this discussion, so I'll shut up now.

Post cup of tea makery, ive realised this form of data and so the experiment is fudlementally flawed, ive allowed people too much interpritation over what should be discreet data namely your politcal stance, all this socalist libertarian right wing libertarian stuff has thrown it off and im not really going to be able to put it in any numeric sense on any graphs and with all the interpretation making a conclusion is going to be a nightmare, im too tired tommorw but this has been a good test run ill make a better system tomorrow by forcing people to choose which of a pre set ideologies they best conform to, that way ill be able to tabulate it and put it in a graph.

Even though I fall in the Right Wing category, it is my feeling that those that truly hate a person based solely on their political stance, religous stance, or class in society are truly shallow people. There is something to learn from people that are different than you. Just wanted to vent a bit. It is too often that I see people in forums being hateful towards someone because of this. :(

Did you mean that 'even though', or can I please start quoting this as an example that right wingers confess they are often the sort of people who do hate people for their ploitical stance/religion/class?
