Now traditionally it has been veiwed that Islam was a religion of blasphemy and therefore in need of destruction. However, the modern Church the wisdom of His Holiness the Pope understands that Islam is inspired by God and that the Qu'ran is blessed by Pope John Paul II, making it a sacred text.

Moving onto the Crusades, those who fought and died in the Crusades may be damned to Hell. For it was the command of Pope Innocent and Pope Ivan to defend the city of Constantinople and the pilgrims in the Holy Land.

It can therefore be gauged that Muslims who support Islam, but do not denounce Catholicism my infact ascend to Heaven under Catholic dogma.

To avoid arguements, I'll decline to comment on Jews.

You are going to need some references for this one. Preferable from the Vatican.

As a Catholic, I support positive relations with our Muslim brothers, as fellow children of God.

Why would Crusaders be sent to Hell? Considering the literacy rate of the era, their knowledge would come from the Priests. If the priests told them to defend, then they probably thought they were doing the right thing.

Those pictures show him kissing the Koran, not blessing it. A blessing is done with the hands making a sign of the cross.

Oh man, if he blessed it, he blessed it. Whether he jumped up and down or made the shape of a cross. Blessing something doesn't depend on what you are doing...look at Jesus' different ways of blessing people. Ditto Peter and Paul in Acts.

Do not confuse the Catholic Churchs teaching on Islam...

The Catholic Church does not teach that Islam is a path parallel to Christianity as a method of salvation; or that by adhering to Islam, Moslems are saved. What the Catholic Church teaches is that through their belief in the Creator, they are related to the Church, and that they are the first among non-Christian, non-Jewish religions in their similarities; that is, they possess parts of the Truth, but not the whole Truth.

That is not the Catholic view on blessings. Any time a Priest, Bishop, or Pope makes a blessing, he does so by making the sign of the cross with his hands and makes the blessing "In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit". Kissing the Koran is not the same as blessing it, nor does it indicate the Pope accepts it as Holy Scripture.

Your premise is false. Under Catholic (and Protestant) dogma, a person who does not believe Christ died for his sins and accepts Christ as their Savior cannot go to Heaven. As the Moslem religion does not believe Christ is the Savior but is only a prophet, they cannot go to Heaven.

I suppose it is possible for Judaism or Islam. What is interesting to note, however, is its absence of all other religions. Being Hindu, Buddhist, Shinto, or any others, it can be argued, is a reasonable ground for going to Hell. I personally think this, but if anyone is offended, please note that I am not trying to convert you. I firmly believe that all people have a right to go to Hell in their own way, free of any unwanted influence or interference.
