I know there have been an assload of threads about Zeppelin, laely, but as I listen to more and more of them, I really that a great deal of their stuff really isn't hard rock. Why do you think they've been labeled so vastly as satan worshipping uber-hard rock?

I don't know, why have they been labelled as "satan worshipping uber-hard rock"?

Because they don't have subliminal messages about "god" and "jesus" in all of their songs?

Because if you do a lot of very illegal drugs, and listen to "Stairway to Heaven" backwards in your room in your parents' basement, they worship satan in the song...

Part of it was some of the occult stuff Jimmy Page was into, I'd bet. Page has the second largest collection of Aleistair Crowley's books on the planet, and owns a house Crowley used to live in, if I remember correctly. He rather liked dabbling in chaos magick.

I was amazed, listening to old blues records, that Zeppelin plays straight 12-bar blues music through amplifiers. I knew that rock descended from blues, but they play the real thing.

I suspect they are seen as satanic because they had long hair and played loud music before it became respectable to do so.

They aren't "uber-hard rock" by today's standards, but if you take a trip back in time to 1969 (when Led Zeppelin I was released), and look what else was around, they were pretty cutting-edge.
