If you love it come join us.

Whatever you play is great as long as it is bassy. I play cello, bass, e-bass (especially five string), bass drum (in a drumline), sing baritone, and have in the past learned a few select songs on the tuba.

Like i said in the musicians thread, i play the BBb straight contrabass clarinet.
It's still written in treble clef though, but it just sounds three octaves below what is actually written........

We'll make an exception and let you in.

Of course I follow the mighty bass clef. The bass guitar IS, after all, essential home-office equipment....

In the Orchestra, I believe the number is around 608,873,608,476,843,670,674,357,264,878,906,509,845,768,903,670,597.

Symphonic Winds there's about 50, maybe 60-some.

And I'm not in a band for drumset. :(

I am a devout follower of the mighty bass clef. I play standup bass and
electric bass. I need, however a full 4/4 standup of my own.

On every day, I said "Let there bass". And bass sprang forth from F-holes and amplifiers, filling the world, and all, including me, heard and saw that it was totally awesome and excellent.

You know what my favorite part about Orchestra rehearsal is? I show up, and its from 7-10 pm on a Tuesday night. However, I will play about six minutes of that entire rehearsal, because most orchestral music was not written with a tuba part.

I get SOOO much reading/work done during rehearsal.

Euphonium, Tuba, Trombone, the bottom half of the piano.

Just FYI: All instruments that read bass clef are concert piched. The funny low-woodwinds that read treble are not concert piched.

You have to understand that sax players are a very lazy group (it's why we play sax instead of a hard instrument). If we had to learn a new clef for the bottom of the family (bass and contra bass are novelties, the drunk uncles that the kids are happy that came to the re-union but not anyone else) our little heads would explode. You should see the tissy we throw when we realise that doubling means learning bass clarinet-which also means that bass clef is no longer code for E-flat...it might be the first instance we learned our instrument could 'growl'...
