Well Buddhism is atheistic, so if you believe there's some sort of supreme deity, I wouldn't go that route. :D

No, I'm just saying ... Buddhism doesn't have "gods" in the conventional sense. They have great heros and people like the Buddha and Quan Yin who are worthy of reverence and great shrines are built to them, but Buddhism doesn't do the Western style "God of Lightning is <name>" or "God of the Sun is <name>" or "God of the Earth is <name>" etc etc.

If you believe in any deities, then chances are Buddhism isn't for you. Although Buddhism does accept all religious ways, so you could, I suppose, be Buddhist Pantheist.
