THE LOST PLANET

Although I'm a self-professed liberal with a political compass score that places me more left and liberal than the Dali Lama and Ghandi, I found myself yesterday in the unusual position of wanting to send former KKK member and Republican senator Robert Byrd an e-mail supporting him for his speech and stand and urging him not to cave in and issue a retraction despite pressure from Jewish groups calling for one.
He delivered a scalding speech that equated the threatened use of the so-called 'nuclear option' to end fillibustering of judicial appointees with events in pre-war Germany that led to Hitlers rise to power.
The man is an avid historian and knows what he's talking about for one and the 'jewish' groups that chastized him are conservative political organizations for jews. He owes no one any apology.
Is anybody else following this issue and do you share my opinion that it is the single most important issue effecting the future of American government at this time? I mean the 'nuclear option', not Byrds trouble with his own party.
