I'm here to generally say hello. I'm new to NS - a friend of mine recommended the site to me, and I'm really glad she did. This place is my new home away from home...o.O

It could be! I've been lucky/smart enough to avoid a mugging in my time here in LA though, so I'm not quite sure just what those crazy kids will pull these days.

Yeah, us silly Americans and our crazy violence.

I don't know that it's necessarily that we have more violence, but that our news and other media tends to snap up the violence we do have and make it look even worse. That starts a snowball effect that causes more violence, and therefore more media coverage, which spawns more violence... do we see a pattern yet?

This is all just speculation though, I don't actually know.

Unfortunately it looks like someone may already be trying to rope you into political esteem issues right off the bat although .... by, for example, correlating your neutral response about something you watched into a political opinion of support you've not actually expressed, and THEN acting like it's their job to turn you a specific direction in that vein.
There's a lot of that kind of thing around here, but 'tis understandable IMO.

If you note, I am not refuting that America has a 'thing' with Violence... every country has that in one form or another. That's why they have a Police force.

Thankfully most of the targets in his arena are on similar ground as far as truth is concerned (the beauty of the public facade), and what are you going to do, argue that every piece of documented film he uses is doctored? Please. Turn his voice off and watch and you'll still get many a jist.

ummm... mostly all (granted I didn't see all of his works, but the ones I did see.) had more doctored "evidence" and things taken out of context to prove his point. but You're right. This is not the place to discuss the genius/sham that is Micheal Moore. And my point about him Having to watch it for school was nothing more than the fact that he had to watch it for school... no hidden meaning, nothing omninous... after all, I had to do alot of research into subjects that bore me because of school. (I still fall asleep when I try to read 1984)

AUGH! Damn uni servers don't have flash damn their eyes to the lowest pits of hell. I hates them and their stinking.... stinkingness for I do not appreciate being unable to see a magician. Unhappy I am, for inverted I speak. Who knows why, I just feel like spouting words until I want to stop, but I don't want to stop yet. So spout and spill and spill and spout, til I make enough spelling mistakes to stop my flow, and when my imagination begins to drain, I'll cease. But I do not want to finish so soon, because I'm unimpressed with the final result. So I hate the servers. I dislike them tremendously. I wish to destroy them with a barrel of fish, perhaps three, perhaps four. And then, when it all settles, I'll observe, perhaps, my magician. I want to see a magic trick!

I would, if it wasn't for the fact that cereal doesn't tend to remain on the head for very long. perhaps steak? or eggs? nah... I'm not random enough to do that. Though I really should take a few pics with my hat (it's in the same style as the ones the blues brothers wear, but I can't remember the name at the moment.) Ain't nothing quite as stylish as that, and it'll be one of the last chances I'll get.

Oh no, I don't like the man at all. It wasn't my choice to watch the movie, and nor am I going to believe everything said within the movie. We're forced to watch it, see. I would have rathered something different. But hey...what could I do? So you can still like me.
