I am fascinated by your belief system, so I hope you won't mind answering a few questions about it. If you don't want to that's okay too.

Here they are:

Which denomination of the Christian faith do you belong to. Is it some form of Presbyterianism?

You seem to indicate you are one of the elect. How do you know this, and when and how were you called to the elect?

Is the whole notion of predestination and being called to the elect a type of semi-pelagianism, and as such how do you really reconcile it with original sin?

How long have you been practicing this religion?

And what the hell is 'the elect'?

And what the hell is 'the elect'?

I believe if you are elect you automatically go to heaven, whatever you actually do in life. Something to do with predestination and all that.

Everyone else goes to hell, whatever they do.

Reminds me of the soldier's doggerel.

Were you there at Waterloo
I was there at Waterloo
It doesn't matter what you do
If you were at Waterloo

Which was often recited because for many years after the battle of waterloo English veterans could gain aquital for almost any crime by showing a Waterloo campaign medal to the Judge. But I digress.

Hardly disgressing. The connection put it in perspective.

I really want to hear his explanation. It's an interesting theory.

I think that Calvinism developed the idea of "The Elect". If this is in fact how Christianity was supposed to be practiced, then I've given up all hope for justice in the universe.

I actually have a question for VoteEarly, although I think I already know the answer:

Are you for real?

I won't participate in this thread because of so much baiting by other posters has already occurred. Sorry, if you want to talk with me, either get a mod to clean this thread up (and then I'll gladly post) or we can TG or IM.

No no ... I mean ...

Mmkay ... Methodism is the rejection of Calvinism. That's the whole basis for the Methodist Church. I didn't mean you were Methodist.

It is pretty nutty. I mean ... Jesus, himself, said that a house divided against itself cannot stand. Ah well ... what did Jesus know, eh?

That was sort of the point ... oy ... it's called wit. We were discussing Christians and how there are so many denominations and I brought up a point that Jesus himself made concerning such division and gave a tongue-in-cheek sarcasm with the "what did Jesus know, eh?" comment.

I think I'll just stop now. This thread won't go anywhere anyway. :)

Since VoteEarly has stated he is not interested in answering questions on this thread, there really is no point to it. Therefore, iLock.
