My girlfreind and I have toyed with the idea of naming them after Sumerian and Egyptian gods/goddesses.

But we're weird. And very bored, so we discuss things that have no bearing on us for a long time.

We did not know where in the world we would be living and working. We wanted a simple name that can be said in most languages, but that was not too common.

It is also the name of a best friend from my teenage years.

I'd like to think a girl with a first and middle name of "Peshtur Isis" would be more likely to be as evil, and kniving as me.

What have you named or would would name your kids? What names do you like? Dislike?
Mine are Rayla ( who was named after her biological father, Ray ), Ramona ( ditto ), Mark ( who, although the last child from my ex's first marriage, managed to gather a Biblical name ), Laura ( my first biological child, who I named Laura because I liked the name ), and Forrest Lee Horn, Jr. ( because it was my last chance to preserve the name my parents gave me, a fine old Southern name which comes from General Nathan Bedford Forrest of Tennessee and General Robert E. Lee of Virginia ). My grandsons are named after characters from the Bible: Samuel, Benjamin, Jonathan, Joseph, and Caleb. The two grand daughters, Callie and Katherine, were named by their mothers for whatever their own reasons were at the time.

My dad wanted to name me Kimberly because apparently I looked like an old girlfriend of his when I was born.
My mom wanted to name me Lauren. So instead, they combined my grandmother's middle names. That's how I got my name.

I have an entire list of baby names, all of them just slightly off-kilter. Being that I am a guy, my children are more than likely going to have my last name (Davis), so I can plan for that. Here are some of my favorites:

Boy:
Mavis Chavis Davis (my first son is definitely going to be named this...any takers for a mother?)
Walston Kirkegaard Davis
Joaquin Dale Davis
Phineas Gabriel Davis
Xander Trian Davis

Girl:
Aurora Monique Davis
Dixie Magnolia Davis (yes, I'm from the South)
Gwynevere Margarette Davis
Emmaline Lucrezzia Davis
Iris Antoinette Davis

I also like names that were in vogue for women way back in the day like Estelle, Thelma, Mabel, Eunice, and Sadie. Oooh, and having a little girl named Hyacinth Daisy Violet Rose Davis would be pretty awesome, too. Sadly, my last name isn't Bucket (pronounced: boo-KAY).

I have to agree. I only want one when I'm older, and a girl.
And not for any perverted reasons you people can think of.

I must raise my sucessor to be as weird as me, and I'd think a militant girl would fit nicely.

Besides.. I wanna be the father on the block who'se daughter no one will date due to the big, green, tank in the driveway.

It's amazing how many times I've had my name spelt wrong, especially considering that my first name's Cameron. (people leave out the 'e' mostly). I think I even had someone spell it with a K once (fool).

As for names I'd like to call my children when I have them (note: when. I don't want to live and not have taken the opportunity to impart wisdom into a child of my own (mind, I'm only 19 so I have plenty of time):

If it's a Girl:
Skye
Leah
Amanda

(yeah, they're simple, but you can't do anything with them and my last name). I've known girls with the above names.

If it's a boy:
Cameron (hey, why not?)
James (Dunno, just like the name)
Mark (My middle name)
Daniel (I know so many Daniel's it's not funny)
Matt (as above)

Personally, I'd like to have two kids - a boy and a girl. That and a loving wife.
