I tend to come up with 'pet names' based on the individual - and I'm single right now... so nada.

My last girlfriend was 'hot stuff' and 'rocka' :)

i call him by his name most of the time. sometimes i'll call him my angel.
other than that there's several nicknames that are being used every now and then by both of us, i don't know how to translate them but they're pretty random and not taken seriously. also none of that darling/honey/sweety/etc stuff (except with a big fat grin)

odd side note:

my parents have two pet names they use for each other, and they use them so much that when i was small i would call them by their pet names for each other instead of calling them Mommy and Daddy.

there is a famous family story of how i got lost in a store and was asked by an employee, "where's your mommy?" i told her i hadn't got a mommy, but i was looking very hard for my Julia-love.

That's a wonderful story! You should be very proud of your parents for their obvious devotion to each other. I suspect that devotion also extends to you. :D

the real bummer is that if i start having messed up relationships i won't be able to blame my parents for it the way most people can :P. they have set a disgustingly good example for me.

It always seems weird to me when parents call each other "Mom/Mother" or "Dad/Father." I mean, it just seems kind of sketch, you know?

I think my parents just called each other by their names, unless, of course, they were referring to them in the 3rd person when talking to me.

back to the original question, though: I call my partner by his name, or "love."

I used to call my ex "darling."

Do you think there's any deep/hidden meaning to the names you call your partner?

I would assume that you're cherry, but... what kind of a board are you? hehe

Okay:

I am not attached at the moment but I hang out with my ex-girlfriend once in a while. Inevitably, I end up calling her "bitch" with various negative adjectives preceding that noun.

What I call him depends on if he is in trouble or not. It's usually either Ricky or Coonass, but, sometimes, it's Dammit.
Alenaland
03-03-2005, 22:45
Sometimes I call him "hon" and sometimes by his name, Dan. :fluffle:

When he's done something stupid, it becomes two syllables "Da-an". When I'm really pissed, I use his full name, including his middle name. When referring to him online he is "dh" or "hubby".

My bird calls him "@$$hole" :p

LOL! Tsk! Be nice! :D

I use to call my ex "Poggies," or "Pollywog," or "Wog." It comes from her name, Paulette, which her nieces and nephews had trouble pronouncing; they would call her "Aunt Powwy," which translated into "Pollywog," which I shortened to "Wog," or "Poggies" ( or "Poglet" if I wanted to really irritate her! Heh! ). :D

She usually called me "Wood," or "Wooden," and no, I will not tell you the evolution of those nicknames! :D
