To Jesussaves

Hi all,

I'd appreciate it if this thread was kept on topic and not insulting anyone in any way. Thanks.

Jesussaves, I've noticed that you have very strong views on lots of your Christian ethics, and I have a few questions...

1) How long have you been a Christian?
2) How much Bible study have you done, both individually, in groups and academically?
3) Would you associate yourself more with "There is no other way to God apart from Jesus", or "God has given us all enough information to chose or reject him, whether we have heard of Jesus or not" Please give verses and contexts of those verses for your argument.
4) All things that we consider bad afflictions come from Satan, yes or no, verses please.

I hope that you are not offended by me asking these questions, it just seems that some of your arguments are poorly thought out.

Thanks and regards.

Guys,

with respect to you, please respect this thread as I am honestly interested in seeing how jesussaves has come to his conclusions and whether they are Bible-based, tradition-based or anything else. As such a prominent  member, I'd like to know where he's coming from.

hey,
Just in case Jesussaves doesn't show up, I hope I can answer your questions. I grow up in a christian family and at first accepted belief in Christ because of my parents, but as I've grown and observed life, I've seen God in the same way I see the wind, through the effects of His work. My dad is a pastor, I read my Bible every night, and I'm also a leader in the Christian group at my school. John 14:6 would be the answer to your first question. I'm not sure quite where I stand on your second question, seeing as I have no specific Biblical evidence, but I believe that God wouldn't leave people out to dry. Lastly, I believe that bad afflictions come as a result of sin. If you want to look at it this way, Satan enticed Eve to commit the first sin, but ultimately, it was her decision to eat the fruit, and thus sin entered the world through humans.

I apologize if this is the only post I leave, because I don't really know how to find any specific posts, seeing as I'm new to this.

Even though this was not directed at me, I would like to anwser, I hope you do not mind.

1) How long have you been a Christian?
I have been a Christian my whole life, since I was baptised.

2) How much Bible study have you done, both individually, in groups and academically?
Bible Study before church as a group every Sunday. I try to read something every morning when I wake up. I would say I have been studying seriously since I was 14 (im 19 now).

3) Would you associate yourself more with "There is no other way to God apart from Jesus", or "God has given us all enough information to chose or reject him, whether we have heard of Jesus or not" Please give verses and contexts of those verses for your argument.

John 14:5-6
5. Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
6. Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

4) All things that we consider bad afflictions come from Satan, yes or no, verses please.

Yes

1 John 3:8
8. He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work.

Thanks for the replies. As a Christian myself, I was more wondering what Jesussaves background was as he makes some strong claims on behalf of Christians and I haven't seen him refer to the Bible at all.

Couple of thoughts of my own...

John 14:5-6
5. Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”

What about Romans 2:20, where it tells us that God has always been visible through creation and his properties? As we follow through Romans it seems to have one rule for those that have heard the law (ie Jesus' fulfillment of the Jewish law) and those that don't (that we have natural instinct and what God has revealed outside of the law until we hear it). If Jesus is the absolute way, absolute truth and absolute life then that would mean that he is the culmination of all Gods qualities and we will reach him through however he has revelaed himself.
Obviously reading this means that we have heard of Jesus.

1 Samuel 18:10 "The next day an evil spirit from God came forcefully upon Saul".

Shows Gods power over all and that he even inflicts what we consider bad things on us for his reasons.

1) Been a Christian since I was about 4 or 5. No really, my dad asked me if I wanted my sins saved and Jesus in my "heart". I said yes. I was converted, now I didn't actually start following till I was oooh....8-10? Just started reading the Bible outa no where.

2) I read the Bible consistently, but I don't have a certain time that no matter what I read it. I have been part of a few Bible Studies, and I consider defending my faith here in this forum "Bible study .. in groups and academically?"

3)I agree with your second phrase. God has revealed himself to the nations and whether we admit it or not, we know he is there. YOu do not need to actually know the name Jesus, or who Jesus was. Jesus was God, remember guys, so if you were a witch doctor in the deep Amazon and were getting tired of feeling the demonic oppression or something and called out to God for help I would consider that coming to God through Jesus(God)....anyhow I probably lost 99.9% of you on that little rant.

4) The majority of "bad afflictions" are a result of the inherent sinful nature in each human. That is right Secular Humanists, we are not inherently good, I believe that the only way we can progress is if we allow God to be the king of your/my/our hearts. Otherwise...the second law of thermodynamics. You could present the problem of Job.."didn't satan bring bad afflictions upon him?" I agree satan did, I think he he is powerful (but he doesn't have authority..yay!!) but you can't blame all bad afflictions on him/her/it.

Having spent time working as an engineer and with the Churches in the Amazon, I'd agree with that. They told me that what they knew before hearing of Jesus, fitted in with what the Bible (finally the new testament is in their own language) says.
