Do You Think Spongebob, Buster Rabbit Are "Gay" Cartoons?

This has probably already been addressed, but I'm curious to know what people think. I've watched both cartoons, neither one seems to be a "gay" cartoon, or encouraging homosexuality in any way, though I will admit putting Spongebob's face on boxer shorts is a bit suspicious. ;)

EDIT: Crap, I screwed up, no poll. :(

Spongebob? Maybe, but Masters of the Universe was truly the gayest cartoon ever.

How is SpongeBob gay? I saw the video that got conservatives foaming at the mouth and found nothing "gay" about it. SpongeBob was hardly even in it anyway.

The Buster Rabbit thing was ancillary, and I don't see how it's even possible to connect Spongebob with anything sexual. That last bit's a little depraved on the part of those who made the accusation, in my book.

You REALLY want a gay cartoon? Ever seen "Queer Duck"? Showtime 2 used to run this on their "Wednesday Night Out" between reruns of "Queer as Folk" and gay themed movies. Created by Xeth Feinberg (of "Ice Age" fame), with characters named Queer Duck, Openly Gator and Oscar Wildcat.

...Last I checked Sponge Bob had a thing for a FEMALE whale, or a FEMALE squirrel...

It's The Loony Toons who crossdress and kiss either gender at will.

Meh. The Religious Right also thought that the Last Temptation was homosexual. Appearantly Jesus was a woman, considering he was boffing Magdelaine.

personally, i think anybody who is reading sexual messages into children's programming is clearly somebody who should NOT be allowed anywhere near children.

honestly, if somebody tells me they see a sexual message in children's cartoons my first thought is, "ok, this guy is a pedophile."

Here are some other incredibly relevant questions:

1. Is Bugs Bunny a rabbit, or a hare?
2. Is Elmer Fudd a natural blonde?
3. Just what are the Warner Brothers and their sister, Dot?
4. Is Underdog really a cat?
5. Where did Popeye get those neat anchor tatoos?
6. Does Betty Boop?
7. Who is Fred Flintstones' Podiatrist? Whoever, he/she must make a mint off the guy - lookit the beating his feet take every time he wants to go for a drive.
8. Huckleberry Hound is a blue dog. A blue dog?
9. What is up with SpongeBob driving boats around under water?
10. Where, exactly, does Veronica lodge?
11. Who taught all these little animals to walk on two legs and speak English? (replace "english" with appropriate language of your choice, as necessary)
12. Who does their costuming? I mean, Donald Duck never seems to be able to find his pants. Yogi Bear has a hat, a collar, a tie...and fur?
13. Is Mickey Mouse an Episcopalian? A Methodist (if so, what method?)?
14. Who will gladly pay you Tuesday for a Hamburger today?
15. Rocket J. Squirrel and Bullwinkle Moose - this is a "roll your own" question. write the question of your choice, and then answer it. you loose all your points if you write a question you can't answer.
16. How about pedophelia? Mr. Peabody and his boy Sherman?
17. Just what is the deal with Pluto? He's a dog - Goofy is a dog...? What's up with that?
18. Who's the leader of the band that's made for you and me?
19. Does Danger Mouse's eyepatch cover his right eye, or his left eye? What is the significance of that? Use examples from the literature.

And, finally...

20. Who the hell cares if SpongeBob is Gay, Straight, or Bi? He's a cartoon sponge, for Pete's sake.

How is Buster bunny gay? He and Babs were always getting together. I think it is stupid of you just to bring up his name. Now Spongebob is a cool cartoon. I see how people think that he is gay. It's probably because he cross-dresses sometimes, but so didn't bugs bunny and no one called him gay. This generation is sad. Things like that in a show used to be over-looked and were thought of being funny. Now everytime something like that happens it's considered gay.

I love sponge bob and bugs bunny. These cartoons aren't for just children, adults can get a good laugh out of them. There's nothing sexual in them at all, in my opinion. I feel the people who made the stink over the "gayness" of the cartoon were trying to stir up an issue that catered to their agenda, what ever it was. I don't feel it is actually worth going into any more. I just want to have a good laugh once in a while. BTW I'm a 45 (geezer).

Cartoons aimed only a kids are usually pretty crappy.

I once saw a news clip about an english priest claiming Tinky Winky (purple Teletubbie) shoots rays that make children in front of the television gay. My question is, how come people like this are left running loose?

i think the best cartoons are the ones that are aimed both at kids and at adults. an example that springs to my mind is Disney's Aladin...it's a great movie for kids, with plenty of action and simple lessons about being yourself, but it also has plenty of subtle and more "adult" humor (as in the references to Groucho Marx, etc, not sexual references) that makes it possible for the movie to hold the interest of older viewers. the Incredibles was another awesome example of this, in my opinion.

for years they've been running around claiming that humans should base their morality on a book about talking snakes, magic bushes, and super zombies. frankly, i'm surprised it's taken them this long to start accusing the TV of shooting rays into their brains.

True, true. It's fun to watch an old cartoon you've been enjoying in past days just to realize how many puns you've missed just because the lack of knowledge.
I don't know, but cartoon-writers nowadays are not nearly as creative as their predecessors from 20 years ago.

Buster Rabbit. From Arthur. And no one is accusing him of being gay. They claim that a recent cartoon featuring him was portraying homosexuality in a postive light because it briefly showed two women in a kitchen together.

*DING* Finally, reason comes to town.

Except for the fact that all of these cartoons are made by adults. Some of which have unterior motives. Try googling "Little Mermaid banned cover art." Look closely at the castle in the background. That ain't no normal spire my friends. It was reportedly done by a disgruntaled artist who found out he was being fired. Never got caught until it was too late.

actually, that's an urban myth. the "banned" cover art was actually fabricated after the fact, by people who shrewdly recognized that towers can be phalic symbols.

Shouldn't they be praising the commercial for showing women in the kitchen and not "stealing some hard working man's job"?
